Easily the most attractive village along this stretch of coast, Dunfanaghy is unassumingly elegant. Dunfanaghy is blessed with the fabulous Killyhoey Beach, a wide, sandy, virtually empty beach that leads right into the heart of the village. Marble Hill Beach, about 2 miles east of the town in Port Na Blagh is more secluded but very popular.
The towering headland of Horn Head has some of Donegal's most spectacular coastal scenery and plenty of birdlife. Its dramatic quartzite cliffs rear over 180m high, and the view from their tops is heart pounding.
Dunfanaghy Golf Club is a stunning waterside 18 hole links course just outside the village, 100 yards from the apartments. And then there's the scenery: even superlatives fall short of Donegal's soul stirring landscapes. The County outdoes anywhere else in Ireland for its sheer physical drama and unspoilt splendour. But if Donegal's mountainous heart is spectacular, then its vast coastline - the longest of any Irish County - it’s simply dazzling. When the weather is kind, Donegal's beach resorts can rival any in Europe, and make perfect destinations for a summer getaway!
There is an abundance of places to visit within a short distance of Dunfanaghy. You have the majestic Glenveagh National Park and the beautiful Ards Forest Park. The lakeside centre in Dunlewy has something for all the family. Letterkenny has all the amenities you would expect to find in a large town - cinemas, museum, theatre, leisure centres, art galleries and excellent shopping.

Dear Mabel:
We wish to thank you very much for allowing us to spend some time in your lovely penthouse.
We had a marvellous time. We enjoyed the spaciousness of your well maintained property, the views from the windows and as well, the panoramic view from the balcony.
We watched the golfers on the course across the road and the sheep too. The sheep were happily grazing and paying no heed to the golfers' shouts of "fore". Just joking! We were particularly amused one day when the usually calm sheep decided to get into a "free-for-all" butting match. We don't know which one started the fracus but were thoroughly entertained by their antics.
We also enjoyed watching the horses and riders exercising along the beautiful beach which we could clearly see from the penthouse window.
There were plenty of things to do during our week there. We visited the very informative "Workhouse" Museum in Dunfanaghy and enjoyed the swans on the lake down the road from the museum.
There was also a visit to Glenveagh Castle and it's magnificent views and gardens. Another day was spent visiting the surrounding villages for shopping and browsing.
This is a perfect location for golfers, hikers, sheep fans and persons who love "to come off the beaten track". The rugged scenery of Northern Donegal is spectacular and should not be missed!
Sincerely,
Mary and Jim from Canada
