Alton Aerach - Carrigart

This cottage is set in an elevated position overlooking Sheephaven Bay and the surrounding hills. The ground floor features a well laid out open plan living and kitchen dining area which maximises stunning views over the surrounding hills and bays. Off the separate hallway are two large bedrooms with a family bathroom.

Upstairs from the hall are two large bedrooms one with en-suite. There is also a large walk in airing/drying room. To the front of the house is a patio area and large lawn allowing guests to unwind and review the days activities whilst experiencing unrivalled sunset views.

Alton Aerach is located 2 km from the village of Carrigart and 4km from Downings Downings itself has a gym and for the family an indoor swimming pool and softplay area for those not so perfect days. The area is one of Donegal’s most popular holiday destinations and features many fine restaurants and pubs.

Local Activities

In addition there are a host of activities in the immediate vicinity including horse riding, scuba-diving, surfing, golfing including the two famous championship courses at Rosapenna. , fishing and hill walking or just relaxing on one of the many nearby sandy beaches including Tramore (10min drive) , Tra na Rossan and Ards Strand.

A short drive will take you to the scenic Atlantic Drive, the enchanting Ards Forest Park and the wild unspoilt beauty of Donegal's Highlands, including two of Donegal's highest mountains - Muckish and Errigal. You also have the renowned Glenveigh National Park. Guests can enjoy a number of varied and exciting day trips including a boat trip to Tory Island and a visit to the ancient and historic city of Derry.

The area is also renowned for its fishing, and three natural brown trout lakes can be found within easy reach as well as a wide variety of sea angling opportunities. A wide variety of walks - from an easy beach stroll to more challenging are also literally on your doorstep.

The spacious fitted kitchen is located to the rear of the house. It is open plan with the living room and has all modern conveniences including Gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine (cutlery crockery and all cooking utensils provided)

The living room is elegantly furnished with a cream leather suite, has wooden floors and all modern entertainment conveniences including an i-pod docking station. It is open plan to the kitchen dining area.

  Sunroom

The sunroom is an oasis of peace and light, it has two comfortable sofas on which to relax and enjoy the uninterrupted views that stretch from Glenveagh to Errigal, Muckish, Sheephaven Bay and the Rosguil Peninsula. It is a wonderful place to relax and unwind.
