Anam Mara - Downings

Anam Mara is a beautiful stone clad cottage with a superb setting on the shores of Mulroy Bay just outside the village  of Downings  in North Donegal.

The Cottage

The cottage has recently been renovated and extended. A new  kitchen and dining area and a superb decking area have been added in a way that makes the most of the superb views of Mulroy Bay. The cottage is located in a quiet cul de sac and features a large fenced-in garden that slopes gently down to the waters edge.
Accommodation in the holiday home is  well laid out and comprises of  a cosy living room, a wonderful kitchen and dining area, 3  double bedrooms  and a large shower room.

Surrounding Area

The holiday home is approx 1 km from Rosapenna and 1½ km from  Downings village. At Rosapenna there is the superb Tra More Strand and two championship golf courses - the Old Tom Morris links and the wonderful new Sandy Hills course. Downings village is a very popular holiday resort. Its beach and harbour facilitate numerous water based activities including swimming, windsurfing, kite-surfing, deep sea diving, sea angling and boat charters. The Magherabeg Leisure Centre  is located just outside the village and features a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and gym,

The holiday home is ideally located to tour the wonderful scenery of North Donegal. Literally on your doorstep you have the renowned Atlantic Drive. This is a scenic drive starting in Downings and continuing around the Rosguil Peninsula. In the locality you also have the spectacular Lough Salt Drive

A little further afield you have beautiful and varied coastal landscapes in such areas as Bloody Foreland, Horn Head, the Rosses and the Fanad Peninsula. Moving inland you have the majestic and unspoilt Donegal Highlands where the magnificent Glenveagh National Park is located

• Golf at nearby Rosapenna Golf Club – featuring two classic 18 hole links course. Other superb courses in the general locality include Dunfanaghy and Portsalon
• Enjoy beautiful unspoilt beaches on your doorstep –  Tramore Strand, Tra na Rossan, Downings, Melmore
• Enjoy diving in the clear waters of Mulroy Bay and Sheephaven Bay
• Take a trip around the spectacular Atlantic Drive and Lough Salt Drive
• Use the new Mulroy Bridge to explore the beautiful Fanad Peninsula
• Visit Glenveagh National Park, with 16,000 hectares of mountains, lakes, wood and bogs. Glenveagh contains the largest red deer population in Europe. Within the National Park Glenveagh Castle and gardens are well worth a visit on their own
• Find numerous peaceful roads, country lanes and mountain tracks to walk.
• Climb Muckish and Errigal. Mount Errigal, the highest mountain in Donegal is a demanding climb and once on the summit you can see for miles around.
• Take a day trip to Tory Island

The bright kitchen and dining area is a new extension to the original cottage. The modern fitted kitchen is fully equipped for the most adventurous of chefs. The area can act as a separate living area complete with tv and comfortable seating.

The dining area enjoys superb views over Mulroy Bay. Double glass doors lead out to the wonderful decking area where a truly panoramic view of bay and the local coastline can be appreciated.

Booking deposit (non-refundable) of euro100 per week - with balance to be paid six weeks prior to the letting period.
