Ard a Mhaoire - Ardara

Ard a Mhaoire is a comfortable holiday home situated on the scenic Loughros Peninsula in South West Donegal.  The holiday home is just 2km from Loughros Point and enjoys views of both Loughros Beg and Loughros More Bays as well as the dramatic Slievetooey Mountains. The holiday home is also just 6km from the Heritage Town of Ardara.

This deceptively spacious holiday home has comfortable accommodation for 6 people. There are 2 double bedrooms and a bedroom with bunk beds. There is a cosy living room with open fireplace and a well equipped kitchen – both enjoying lovely views. There is a bathroom on the ground floor and a spacious shower room on the first floor.

The Loughros Peninsula

The Loughros Peninsula extends west from Ardara into the Atlantic Ocean at Loughros Point. It is a peaceful, unspoilt peninsula which has some of the most beautiful scenery in Donegal. There are magnificent views across Loughros Beg Bay towards the Slievetooey Mountains and the famous Asaranca waterfall which cascades down to the majestic  Maghera Beach. A 10 minute Walk from the holiday home brings you to Dorlins beach  - a nice bathing beach  on the Loughros More Bay side of the Peninsula.

Ideal Walking Terrain

Ard a Mhaoire is a great base for outdoor pusuits. The Loughros Peninsula and its two neighbouring  peninsulas – Dawros to the north and  Slieve League to the south provide endless opportunities for the walker, hill climber, cyclist and the sightseer. And of course the Bluestack Mountains to the east of Ardara are renowned for their Waymarked Way walking trails.
On the nearby Dawros Peninsula you have the wonderful Narin & Portnoo Golf Links and the superb Narin Blue Flag Beach as well as archaeology sites like the Kilclooney Dolmen and  the circular stone fort on Lough Doon. A little further afield on the rugged Slive League Peninsula you have the folk village at Glencolmcille , the dramatic Slieve League Cliffs and Killybegs – Irelands largest fishing port and also a top sea angling centre.

The kitchen windows looks out towards Loughros More Bay on the other side of the Peninsula. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge freezer. For dining there is a round table and 4 chairs. There is also a washing machine.
