Ard na Aulinn is a luxurious 4 bedroom holiday home with an idyllic location in the small  Gaeltacht village of Dunlewey in  West  Donegal.  Situated  in the shadow of Mount Errigal the holiday home enjoys breathtaking panoramic views over Dunlewey lake towards the Donegal Highlands. It is an ideal base to explore Glenveagh National Park and the rugged coastlines of Gweedore and The Rosses.

Top Class Accommodation

This newly built home has top class accommodation for up to 9 people.  All rooms enjoy either views of the lake and mountains or views of the majestic  Mount  Errigal. The large conservatory has particularly impressive views of the lake which is just 500 metres away from the front door. A similar distance will bring you to the wonderful Dunlewey Centre.

The Dunlewey Centre

The Dunlewey Centre (Ionad Cois Locha) has superb facilities including a restaurant, tea-room, craft shop, horse riding stables, adventure play areas, a themed farmyard, pets and animals, storytelling, boat trips on Dunlewey Lake, guided tours and weaving demonstrations. Traditional music sessions are held regularly in July and August. The centre now boasts a state-of-the-art concert and drama centre. It is a great facility to have on your doorstep for those days when the weather is inclement.


Dunlewey Lake itself along with the nearby Clady River are popular fishing venues with permits available in Bunbeg. The lake  has a "crannóg" a man made island reached by stepping stones that was a former refuge on the lake for the eariliest inhabitants of the region to escape from wild animals and tribal attacks. At the end of Dunlewey lake, in between the sweeping forests of the Guinness estate and the quartzite bulk of Mount Errigal, lies the Poisoned Glen.

Sli an Earagail

Sli an Earagail – a Bealach na Gaeltachta  Waymarked Way passes close by the holiday home. Indeed the entire area around Dunlewey is ideal rambling and hill walking terrain with the wonderful Glenveagh National Park and the Derryveagh Mountains close at hand.  A particular beautiful walk is  a 15 mile hike from the Poisoned Glen to Glenveagh Castle.

Just 3km from the holiday home is n Chuirt Hotel which has a good reputation for food and has indoor leisure facilities. Within 20 km of the holiday home there are some excellent beaches including Bunbeg and the superb Blue Flag Beach at Carrrickfinn. There are scenic 9 hole golf courses in Gweedore, Falcarragh and on Cruit Island. Sea Angling Charter boats are located in Bunbeg. The entire Gweedore region is renowned for traditional music.

The beautifully crafted kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, microwave and fridge - with an additional fridge and 2 freezers in a large outside garage/utility. The kitchen area has a central island unit that serves as a dining table.

The  tastefully decorated living area has a luxury leather suite, open fireplace, tv with satelitte freeview, video and dvd player and stereo system. The area enjoys lovely lake views.
