Atlantic View is a luxury modern holiday home with a breathtaking location on Kill Mountain high above Dunfanaghy village in North Donegal. From its elevated site the holiday home enjoys sweeping panoramic views over this northern landscape – stunning views over New Lake toward the vast Atlantic Ocean and views that also include Killahoey Beach, Dunfanaghy village, the Horn Head Peninsula, the large sand dunes of Tramore and Tory Island.
Atlantic View has 4 spacious and comfortable bedrooms – two of which are ensuite. The large ground floor area has a number of different living spaces – all of which enjoy wonderful sea views. The main living room is comfortably furnished and features an open fireplace. Double doors lead to a wonderful sun room which enjoys both sea and mountain views. The tastefully designed kitchen and dining area is located between the main living room and the second living room. The dining area has a cathedral style ceiling with skylights which flood the area with natural light. In fine weather the decking area to the front of the house can be used as a second dining area or for simply relaxing and enjoying the superb coastal views below. The landscaped grounds around the holiday home feature a number of well maintained lawns.
Form Atlantic View’s idyllic and tranquil setting on Kill Mountain it is less than a 3km journey into the centre of the popular family seaside resort of Dunfanaghy. This vibrant seaside village on the shores of Sheephaven Bay has a number of fine restaurants, coffee shops, friendly traditional pubs, craft shops and art galleries. There is a well established Festival programme which runs throughout the year and includes a Seafood Festival, a Jazz and Blues Festival, the August Fair and a Halloween Madness Festival.
Dunfanaghy boasts a number of top class tourist attractions including the fabulous Blue Flag Killahoey Beach and an excellent 18 hole links golf course. Killahoey beach is popular for walking, swimming, wind surfing, pony trekking and kite flying. There are also fine beaches at nearby Portnablagh and at Marble Hill. Tramore Strand is located on the other side of Horn Head. The fabulous and totally unspoilt beach faces out to the Atlantic Ocean is an ideal venue for a bracing walk
There is plenty of opportunities for ramblers and hill walkers in this beautiful part of Donegal – coastal walks around the spectacular Horn Head Peninsula, woodland walks in the enchanting Ards Forest Park and hill walking in the North Donegal Highlands – Muckish Mountain provides a very scenic background to Dunfanaghy . The magnificent Glenveagh National Park is just over 20km from the holiday Home. This park has over 16,000 hectares (40,000 acres) of mountains, lakes, glens and woods, with a herd of red deer and the recently reintroduced Golden Eagle. A quaint castle is surrounded by one of the best gardens in Ireland, which contrasts sharply with the rugged surroundings.
The Horn Head peninsula has been designated as an Irish Natural Heritage Area and a Refuge for Fauna (specifically sea birds). New Lake , which the holiday home overlooks, was formerly a salt water marsh but alterations to local sand dunes meant the marsh filled with fresh water and became a lake. Over time New Lake became a haven for seabirds and is now a Special Protection Area. The award winning Mill Restaurant is located on the shores of New Lake.
