Stunning architect designed house on 5 acres just I minute walk to the shores of Loughros Beg Bay. There are fabulous views of the Bay and the surrounding countryside. The house was built in 1991 and won an Irish Architectural award in 1992. The house faces due west and has fantastic views of Loughros Beg Bay, Slievetooey, Loughros Point and the sunset views are unforgettable.
Ballyganny is surrounded by lawns and outbuildings and there is an adjacent 5 acre field which is also part of the property. There is a tidal beach less than 100 meters away and there are other unspoiled quiet beaches nearby. The house, which is two storeys with four bedrooms, was constructed on the site of a derelict 3 room cottage and it uses the same footprint and style. There is a very attractive large living area which incorporates the kitchen/dining, living and a mezzanine balcony area overlooking the views.
The wall construction is thick and cottage like even though modern thermal bocks were used. In addition to a Stovax stove in the living room, there is under-floor heating and electric convector heaters throughout the house.
The house is situated 2.5 km west of Ardara at the apex of Loughros Beg Bay. It lies 1km off the Loughros Point road, and has beautiful panoramic views over Loughros Beg Bay and Maghera Strand with Slievetooey in the background.
Ardara is a picturesque village, situated at the centre of three peninsulas, and set in a valley near the mouth of the Owentocker River, just before it enters Loughros-Mor Bay. Visitors can see the weaving centres where the world famous Donegal tweed is spun, and enjoy other crafts such as hand-knitting and embroidery.
Ardara has many attractions; not least it’s many pubs most of which have traditional music sessions at night. There are also a number of festivals throughout the year including the Matchmaking, the Cup o’tea and the annual Agricultural Show.It is an ideal location for fishing, walking, local folklore, archaeology, tweed-making, surfing, golf, and making the best of all South Donegal has to offer.
The open plan, fitted Ikea kitchen is located off the living room, with west facing views over the Atlantic.

First can I just echo the comments that have been made about your site? It is by far the best site for cottages that I have stumbled accross! Great pictures, clear descriptions, good search facilities, etc.
