The cottage lies about 3km from Malin,  not far from the source of the Ballyboe River, which has its mouth at Malin, where the unique ten arched bridge crosses into the town. (see bottom picture.)

There are two upstairs and two downstairs bedrooms with sleeping capacity for a total of nine adults. The kitchen is fully fitted with all the usual modern appliances for easy food preparation.

The lounge has a unique, rustic, traditional, stone built fireplace, a TV and DVD, and there are lovely views from the window. Outside there is a deck area with patio furniture, a clothes line and ample parking. The cottage is well positioned as a touring base from which to explore the northern parts of Inishowen and beyond.

Some local attractions worth seeing:
Malin Head, which is not to be confused with Malin Town; is notable for being the most northerly spot in Ireland, and the spot is marked by an old Lloyds tower on top of a hill known as Banba's Crown. From here there are great coastal views to the east and west, and on clear days, one can see Inishtrahull Island and the Hebrides off Scotland.

Perhaps the best view is looking south towards the hinterland of Inishowen across Pollan Bay, in late afternoon light. On the way back, stop at Farren's Bar, Irelands most northerly watering hole, and enjoy a pint or two.

Local beaches are at Five Finger Strand, Lagg, and Culdaff. The beach at Culdaff has blue flag status, and a good play area for children next to the car park. When wind and tides are just right, surfers might want to try their luck riding the waves.

At the Isle of Doagh, just across Trawbreaga Bay, visit The Isle of Doagh Visitor Centre; otherwise known as the Famine Village. This is a unique, family run outdoor museum, with displays and models exhibiting structures and tableaux of Ireland in the 19th century, particularly during the great famine of the 1840's. Do take the guided tour, for a well informed presentation of the story.

Afterwards refreshments are served in the cafeteria. The centre also provides traditional dance and music, performed by local artists in the summer months. In the winter, from November to mid December, the place transforms into "Santa's Lapland"; probably the most popular attraction in the area, with early booking essential if you want to get in.

Also on the Isle of Doagh, you can see the ruins of Carrickabraghy Castle at the northern end of Pollan Beach. There is a fascinating natural feature just below the castle, where at high tide, the sea forces water up through a narrow opening in the rocks, creating a high jet of water like a fountain. Just before the blow, you can hear a hissing sound, like a kettle coming to the boil.

The other attraction on the Isle, is of course the famous Ballyliffin Golf Club, with its two links courses. If you are a keen golfer, this is not to be missed.

There are three other courses on Inishowen, at Greencastle, Buncrana and Redcastle.
