Isle of Doagh (Ballyliffin):
This recently built home is situated on the
eastern side of the Isle of Doagh, near Fegart Point. Surrounded on
three sides by Trawbreaga Bay, and very close to the 'famous'
Ballyliffin Golf club and the "Famine Village"; - a popular local
attraction, both of which are also situated on Doagh Island.

A large house, built on a
3 acre site in a quiet and peaceful area of Doagh Island, just
outside Ballyliffin. Originally designed to function as a B&B, each
bedroom is fitted with its own en-suite bathroom. There are 3 bedrooms
on the ground floor and a large open-plan living/dining & kitchen area.
Provision has been made to add another 4 bedrooms to the upstairs roof
area. Spectacular views of the surrounding area including Trawbreaga Bay
are to be enjoyed from here.
Located within a very short distance to the popular Famine Village, an
outdoor museum with displays of buildings and models that tell the story
of life in 1840's Ireland during the great famine and onward. The centre
holds different events throughout the year, and includes music and
dancing performed by local artists in the summer months of July and
August. From 24th November to 24th December, the centre transforms into
"Donegal's Lapland, Santa's Island": - a must see for all ages! - As
this event is extremely popular, early booking is essential.
The Ballyliffin Golf Club, with its old and new links is just a 5 minute
drive over on the western side of the Isle of Doagh. Great for golf
enthusiasts, the club has hosted world famous golfers and major
tournaments.
Doagh Island is a great area for walkers (other than the golfers),
providing spectacular coastal scenery, with the 2 mile Pollan Strand
beach and nearby Glashedy Island. On a large rock named Friars Rock,
stands the ruins of Carraickabraghy Castle, originally part of a much
larger structure, it once had an oval bawn and 7 circular towers
enclosing a keep. Ownership of the castle changed hands many times and
was once occupied by McFaul, the 11th descendant of Prince Eoghain, son
of Niall and the nine hostages. It was last inhabited in 1665.
Near the castle, at high tide, a fissure in a rock aptly named the
"hissing rock" spurts a jet of sea water high into the air.
