Located right on the beach at Bunbeg in beautiful west Donegal
this new log cabin offers all modern facilities and direct access to the
beach. Watch the sun go down in the western sky from the
surrounding wood deck area or enjoy walking on the golden sands
that are literally a stones throw from the cabin.
The shops, pubs and restaurants of Bunbeg
are only a 10 min walk away. Stroll up to the nearby Ostan Gweedore
which specialises in seafood fresh from the Atlantic Ocean - the hotel's
Sundowner Wine & Tapas Bar is an experience in itself.
Glenveigh National Park
Glenveigh National Park consists of over 16,000 acres of Mountains,
Lakes, Glens and Woods, and is famous for its fine herd of Red Deer. The
Central feature is the 19th Century Castle surounded by the famous
Glenveigh Gardens.
Dunlewey Lakeside Centre
There is plenty to do at the Lakeside Centre for young and old alike.
Facilities include Restaurant, Tea-room, Craft Shop, Horse Riding,
Adventure Play areas, Pets & Animals, Storytelling Boat Trips on
Dunlewey Lake, Guided Tours and Weaving Demonstrations. Also offers
traditional music sessions in July & August.
Boat Trips
The Ferry service to Tory Island is available from Bunbeg and
Magheraroarty several times a day - weather permitting - and is a must
for those who appreciate art. There is a school of painters led by the
'King of Tory', Patsy Dan Rogers and exibits can be seen at the
Community Hall.
Also available from Bunbeg Harbour - The Gola Island Ferry which will
take you on a journey through the islands. You can explore Gola Island
which is uninhabited, walk deserted beaches, take in the beautiful
scenery......and relax.
Hill walking/Cycling in Gwedore
There is a wealth of scenic and unspoilt walking trails all over
Gweedore. From bracing walks along the hilltops to a leisurely stroll on
any one of a number of sheltered sandy beaches.
Golf Courses in the area
Gweedore Golf Course (9 hole) is less than a 5 minute drive from the
Beach House. There are several other Golf courses nearby - Dunfanaghy
(18 hole) Cloughaneely (9 hole) & Cruit Island (9 hole).
Local Fishing
Fishing is available locally for Salmon, Trout, Brown Trout & Sea Trout.
Donegal Airport at Carrickfinn
Donegal Airport is only a 20 minute car journey from the Beach House.
Direct flights available to/from Dublin & Glasgow Prestwick. Car Hire is
also available at the Airport. |
