Beach View - Greencastle

Beach View is a lovely 3 bedroom holiday home located just outside the seaside village of Greencastle in north Inishowen. From its elevate site it enjoys panoramic  views of  sea, coast and mountain . From the front of the house there are views over Greencastle Golf Club and Lough Foyle towards Magilligan Point and Binevenagh Mountain in North West Derry. To the side of the house there are lovely views northwards over Shroove Lighhouse  towards the Derry coastline between Castlerock and Portrush. On clear days the Isle of Islay and the Scottish mainland are visible.

Greencastle

The holiday home has a number of tourist amenities in its immediate locality. A little over 1km from the front door are fine beaches – the blue flag Stroove Beach and the smaller White Strand. These two beaches are overlooked by the iconic Stroove Lighthouse located on Dungaree Point. Less than 2km from the holiday home brings you into the centre of Greencastle village  with it busy fishing harbour and historic castle ruins. 

Overlooking the harbour is the Inishowen  Maritime Museum and Planetarium. The museum exhibits include boats from 6ft to 50ft, The Armada Room, Emigration Room, thousands of items of memorabilia and photographs. The state-of-the-art Planetarium gives the visitor  the ability to see how mariners used to navigate with the stars, and also provide dazzling astronomy and light shows. Facilities include gift shop and tea room. Also at Greencastle harbour is Kealys Seafood Bar – a nationally renowned seafood restaurant. The Cairn Centre in the village brings Irish Heritage to life through lighting, voice overs, photographs, life size figures and miniature diagrams of the Irish countryside. It covers the period from the very first farmer in Ireland to the recent past.

Ideal tour Base for the North Coast of Ireland

The holiday home overlooks the northern part of Greencastle Golf Club. This friendly 18 hole golf club has a beautiful setting along the shores of Lough foyle and offers the visitor excellent value. Not only has the holiday home a golf club on its doorstep – it also is an excellent base for playing some of the best links courses in Ireland. Ballyliffin Golf club is  35km away while  the superb courses at Castlerock, Portstewart and Portrush are easily accessible via the Greencastle to Magilligan Ferry. This Ferry service also makes Beach View Holiday Home a great base to explore the northern coast of Northern Ireland . The Giants Causeway, Bushmills Distillery, the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and Dunluce Castle are just some of the top attractions in this area.

Local Attractions

Closer to home there are also some excellent amenities.In addition to Stroove there are fine beaches at Kinnegoe Bay, Culdaff and Five Finger Strand near Malin. Just Kayak is an adventure centre based in nearby Moville. It offers inland and sea level kayak training as well as tours by canoe and kayak. Just Kayak can offer coast, surf, white water and flat water kayaking. The Inishowen Boating Company operates 2 purpose built fast charter boats from Bunagee Pier Culdaff  (22km) . These fully licenced vessels offer sea angling and sight seeing on Lough Foyle.
The newly renovated Isle of Doagh Famine Village near Ballyliffin depicts life in Donegal at different stages throughout history in an informative and enjoyable tour.  Redcastle  (12km) has a lovely 9 hole golf course and  the Leisureland  complex which is recognised as one of Ireland's leading indoor fun parks. Other major attractions in the locality are Malin Head, the Gap of Mamore, Dunree Military Museum and Derry City (32km) – UK City of Culture 2013

The living room enjoys lovely views  to the front – Lough Foyle and Binevenagh Mountain  - and to the side – Lough Foyle towards the north Derry coastline and Scotland (on clear days). The open fireplace  provides a warm focal point.  The room is simply yet elegantly furnished and there is a tv for home entertainment.

  Kitchen and Dining Room

The bright and spacious dining area has a table that can comfortably accommodate 8 people at meal times. The adjacent kitchen is fully fitted with a full range of modern appliances including diswasher, microwave, fridge freezer and electric oven and hob. A separate beer and wine fridge is located in the dining area.An adjacent alcove houses a washing machine and tumble dryer.

  Sun Room

The bright sun room is a very attractive second living space for the holiday home. It is tastefully furnished and has an electric stove and tv. Through the glass patio doors it enjoys superb views over Lough Foyle.
