Binevenagh Cottage :: Greencastle, Donegal

Binevenagh Cottage ::

Tariff 2008

The holiday home is named after the development in which it is located; 'Binevenagh View'. It is situated just off the the main R241 coastal road that follows the eastern shore of the Inishowen Peninsula, and is one mile south of Greencastle, and two and a half miles north of Moville. The cottage lies at the top end of the development, at the end of a cul-de-sac in a secluded, quiet and peaceful location. On an elevation, it has coastal views over Lough Foyle from the front and rear of the house.

The home itself, is an attractively proportioned 'semi-detached' dwelling, set against a background with trees, it has four bedrooms to sleep eight.
On the ground floor, we find on the right side of the entrance hall, a cosy lounge, which has a bay window and a traditional open fireplace. To the left two bedrooms, the main bathroom, and to the rear; a large, spacious kitchen and dining area, a separate utility room and toilet.

Upstairs, is the landing, and two large bedrooms. The master bedroom has a forward facing dormer window and a rear facing sky-light. It also has an en-suite and a TV.

Outside, a neatly trimmed lawn in front, and a larger lawned back yard and decked patio area, enclosed by a wooden fence. To the side is a tarred driveway that will park up to four cars.

The cottage has oil fired central heating and all the usual amenities and appliances to ensure convenience and comfort. It would also be regarded as an ideal touring base, with its proximity to the R241.

Although closer to Greencastle, it is also not very far from Moville, so there is a wider choice of pubs, restaurants, take-aways and other 'eateries'.

The nearest sandy beach is along the Greencastle-Moville path. A little further on, is 'Shroove Beach' next to the lighthouse at Dunagree Point.

A really outstanding 'Blue Flag' beach, facing west with seven miles of golden sand against a backdrop of mountain and cliff scenery, is 'Benone Strand'.

'The clean, firm, golden sands of Benone Strand are without rocks, shingle or seaweed and are preceded by the glorious natural formations of Benone's sand dunes'. With a supervised playground, outdoor paddling pool and golf club, a fun filled day is guaranteed.

It is a haven for nature lovers, as the entire area is a paradise for the study of botany, entomology and shells.

Not far, 'as the crow flies'; - but to get there; you will have to take the ferry across the Foyle, from Greencastle to Magilligan Point, and from there a five minute drive should get you to the beach.

While you are here, you may want to extend your drive along the coast of Northern Ireland, and visit Port Stewart, Port Rush, Dunluce Castle, The Giants Causeway, and the Bushmills Distllery.

Golfers will be happy to know that the Greencastle Golf Club is less than 2 miles away. The game can also be played at Redcastle, on the hotels 9 hole course, or in the city of Derry at Culmore. A little further on, you may want to try the famous two links courses at Ballyliffin, or the North West Golf Club at Lisfannon, near Buncrana.
