The Donegal Craft Village is situated 1.5km south of the historic town of Donegal. This attractive facility was established in 1985. Today it joins the An Clachan Art & Craft Gallery (Gweedore) and the Letterkenny Craft and Design Studio as one of the main showcases for contemporary arts and crafts in County Donegal
The workshops in this village are leased to professional artists and crafts people. The workshops themselves are clustered around a central courtyard. You won’t find any canned leprechauns or Guinness T-shirts here. Instead, this little huddle of craft studios showcases unique products that have been produced onsite. You can meet the artists and watch them working with glass, bronze, textiles, wood, paint and precious metals. Visitors have an ideal opportunity to purchase unique Irish craft and design; one-off pieces that are simply not available anywhere else. The visitor can also commission specially made items for presentations, corporate gifts or larger architectural pieces.
A trip to the craft village is enhanced by the presence of a landscaped picnic area and a quaint cafe on the edge of the courtyard. Indeed the Aroma Café is renowned for its tempting menu, fresh ground coffee and delicious homemade cakes. Car and coach parking is spacious and free
