A large sun terrace at the rear of the cottage offers the perfect spot to relax and unwind with beautiful views of sheep grazing on the neighbouring hillside. Adjoining the terrace, there is an enclosed garden/paddock bordered by a stream. There is plenty of space for a tent for extra accommodation or for nigh time adventures for the children. The cottage is situated in a tranquil, rural location, surrounded by hills and lovely open countryside but is only a five minute drive from the village shops and pubs at Dunkineely and two miles from the sea. The beautiful natural harbour and important fishing port at Killybegs, where seals can often be seen, can be reached in fifteen minutes and Donegal Town's restaurants, pubs and colourful shop-fronts are also a short drive away. There are several beautiful sandy beaches within easy reach of the cottage and the lighthouse at St. John's Point, just to the south, lies at the end of a wild and scenic peninsula. The highest sea cliffs in Europe at Slieve League are also accessible as is the scenic coast around the lively and attractive coastal towns of Ardara and the Maghera sea caves. Inland, the scenery is wild and unspoilt with stunning vistas of mountains, lakes, glens and woodlands. The Glenveagh National Park and the exhilarating peaks of the Bluestack Mountains are within driving distance of the cottage. There are opportunities for superb walking, cycling and fishing, (sea and river), in the area as well as horse riding, golf, scuba diving, sea safaris and listening to traditional Irish music in the local bars. As well as offering a unique Irish holiday experience under a thatched roof, Bridge Cottage is an ideal location for enjoying the stunning scenery, cliffs, beaches, towns and friendly people of southern Donegal. The cottage is available to rent all year round at very reasonable prices. |
