Bun an Inver Cottage - Derrybeg

Bun an Inver is a traditional Irish 4 bedroom cottage near Derrybeg in West Donegal which has  recently been renovated and modernised inside. Located along the coast near the quaint Bun an Inver Harbour and beach the cottage enjoys spectacular views of Bloody Foreland and the Atlantic Ocean.

These views can be enjoyed from the wonderfully spacious open plan living and dining area in the cottage. This tastefully furnished and decorated living space is flooded with natural light - there are 3 velux ceiling  windows together with 3 main windows. The scenery can also be enjoyed from the the lovely front garden which is enclosed by traditional stone walls - with help from some old railway sleepers.

The Gaeltacht Way

Slí an Earagail - part of Bealach na Gaeltachta (The Gaeltacht Way) - passes the front door of the holiday cottage. This is long distance walking route (approx 60kms) developed to the standard of a National Waymarked Way and encompasses mountain, riverside, seaside and forest habitats. Most sections of Slí an Earagail are on track and minor roads.

The cottage is within walking distance of Teac Jack's in nearby Glassagh.. Here the visitor can take part in the 'ceol', 'caint' agus 'craic'  and absorb a traditional Irish music seisiún, or join in the Ceili Dancing  - not forgetting of course to sample the excellent bar food.

The village of Derrybeg itself lies on Donegal's west coast in the heart of the Irish-speaking Gweedore Gaeltacht. Staying at Bun an Inver Cottage will enable the visitor to absorb the culture and heritage of this unique region where Irish is still the main everyday language.

The holiday home is an ideal base to explore the beautiful coastline of West Donegal. Errigal and the Derryveagh mountains are only 15 minutes drive away. The Dunlewey Lakeside Centre is a similar distance by car and boasts an exciting historical display of local crafts, trips on the lake and play facilities for children. The Gweedore 9-hole Golf Club is only 10 minutes from door of the holiday home and fishing in the local lakes and rivers is a popular local activity. In the Ostan Gweedore Hotel Leisure Centre a swimming pool and gym are available.
