This lovely 3 bedroom cottage is located on an elevated site just outside the village of Mountcharles and enjoys spectacular sea views over Donegal Bay. Comfortably furnished throughout, Carraigín Cottage makes the ideal base for a touring holiday of Donegal. The seashore is a 5min stroll from Carraigín and there is a path skirting Donegal Bay which is very popular with walkers. The nearby village has a range of small shops and pubs where you can sample the atmosphere and get advice from the locals about things to do and places to see.

Mountcharles is situated 5km west of historic Donegal Town on an elevated site high above sea level which offers wonderful views of Donegal Bay. The village is named after its founder, Charles Conyngham, who built the village towards the end of the 17th century. In the 18th century the local people worked in the salt works which was also founded by the Conyngham family. The 19th century author and short story writer, Seamus McManus, was from the Mountcharles area.
The village is 2.5 hours from Dublin & Belfast airports, 1hr 30mins from Derry airport and 2.5 hours from Larne port. The world renowned Killybegs fishing port is 30 mins drive and is full of cosmopolitan and Irish culture.

The highest Sea Cliffs in Europe are located about half an hours drive away in Glencolmcille. The Sliabh League cliffs reach a height of almost 2,000ft with a sheer drop down to the ocean.

Also located in Glen is the Folk Village. A specially built replica of houses from the Famine times in Ireland (Around the 1800''s). You can take a look at first hand, what life was like for the people and how they survived. Walk into one to see the kettle boiling on a turf fire. It really brings a sense of time travel!
