Carrickfinn Blue Flag beach. In fact this beach is only one of many
fine sandy beaches throughout this scenically magnificent area of North
West Ireland. Carrickfinn cottage is the ideal base to explore the
dramatic, rocky coastline, blue-green mountains and deep valleys of
West Donegal. The cottage is also well placed to enable the visitor to
absorb the culture and heritage of Donegal's Gaeltacht - where
Irish is still the main everyday language.

Carrickfin peninsula has been designated a Special Area of
Conservation and also a Natural Heritage area. Wildlife is in
abundance and the area is noted for the presence of rare plant species.
Other attractions in this part of Donegal include the breathtaking
Glenveigh National Park and the family orientated Dunlewey
Centre. This centre has lots of different attractions -children's
play area, farm yard, boat trips, craft shop, weaving house, audio
visuals, etc. The islands of Tory, Aranmore and Gola are all
within easy reach of the cottage. Also within easy reach of the cottage
are good restaurants and friendly pubs including the famous Leo's
Tavern - the home of both Clannad and Enya . |
