Copper Beech House is a holiday home
with a superb location overlooking the beautiful green in
Malin Town
- a town that has twice been a winner of Irelands
National
Tidy Town award. This deceptively spacious holiday home has 5
comfortable bedrooms and 2 separate living rooms. Everything in the town
is within easy walking distance - pubs ,shops and the
Malin Hotel - highly recommended for
quality bar food and entertainment.
Malin is on the route of the famous
Inishowen 100. This is one of
Ireland's most scenic drives — a 100-mile circular route around the
Inishowen Peninsula. Bounded on three sides by water, Inishowen is
almost triangular in shape, between
Lough Swilly
and
Lough
Foyle
and facing the
Atlantic.
The route includes dramatic coastal scenery plus a fine collection of
ancient forts and monuments, traditional craft centres, and a dozen or
so friendly villages. Scenic highlights include the Gap of
Mamore,
a scenic roadway that rises to a height of 800 feet above sea level
before following a
spiralling corkscrew
descent with panoramic views of the entire northern coastline.
Malin Head, Ireland's most northerly point and
Fort
Dunree are two magnificent viewing outposts on the drive. Due to its central location in North Inishowen, Malin Town is within a short driving distance of many beautiful sandy beaches. The spectacular Five Finger Strand lies just north of the town. Other fine beaches in the locality include Pollan Bay, Tullagh , Kinnegoe Bay and the blue flag beach at Culdaff.
A 10
minute drive from the holiday home will bring you to the fabulous
Ballyliffen Golf Club. The two golf links courses at Ballyliffin
have been described as the "Ballybunion of the North". Both courses
have large undulating greens, deep bunkers and fairways that are as
challenging as the nearby crashing Atlantic surf. Nick Faldo is a great
admirer of Ballyliffin and has remarked that the Old Links Course is
the most natural that he has ever seen. Other fine golf courses on
the Inishowen Peninsula can be found at Greencastle, Redcastle and
Buncrana.
The
owners of the holiday home provide charter sea angling services to the
holidaymaker. With their two 39ft angling boats, based at Bunagee
Harbour, Culdaff, they can provide the experienced or amateur angler
with memorable trips on the unspoilt waters around the Inishowen
Peninsula.
For horse and pony enthusiasts there are two equestrian centres in Malin
– Malin Stables
and Rose Cottage Riding School
Places
of interest in the general locality around Malin include the
Inishowen Maritime Museum in Greencastle, the Doagh Visitor Centre &
Famine Walk at Doagh Island and the
Fort and Military Museum at
Dunree.
Mc
Grory’s of Culdaff
is less than a ten minute drive from the holiday
home. This renowned establishment features an award wining restaurant,
traditional bar with regular Irish Music Sessions and the famous
Backroom - one of Ireland's leading live music venues. The ancient and historic walled City of Derry is a 40 minute drive from the holiday home. Using the nearby Greencastle to Magilligan car ferry the holidaymaker can make daytrips to the Giants Causeway and Bushmills. The Lough Swilly ferry at Buncrana makes it easier for the visitor to explore the Fanad and Rosguil Peninsulas.
