Cul an Chnoic, Murvagh, Donegal Town was built in 1999 and is fully equipped for a very comfortable and enjoyable holiday. Situated on the side of a hill in a remote and beautiful area the house enjoys spectacular views over Murvagh Beach and Donegal Bay towards Mount Charles in the distance. The wildflower garden is complemented by comfortable patio areas with garden furniture and a barbeque.

 

Ideal Touring Base

The house is ideally situated to enjoy the best of County Donegal. Only minutes from Donegal Town, with pleasant shops and plenty of cafes and restaurants plus you can take a trip on the waterbus round the outlying islands and watch for seals. Or head south to Ballyshannon (home of Donegal China), with its waterworld leisure centre, or perhaps stop off at Rossnowlagh or Bundoran beaches. Within a half hours drive you also have the wonderful ‘Yeats Country’ in Sligo and the majestic Fermanagh Lakelands.

For golfer, the main course at Murvagh is less than one mile from the house, and there is plenty of fishing for the enthusiast.

Local Amenities / Attractions

  • Donegal Town  (9km) is  of great historical interest and has numerous tourist attractions. Donegal Castle stands beside The Diamond, overlooking the River Eske. Guided historical tours of Donegal Town take place on a daily basis during the summer and the Waterbus takes you around Donegal Bay. The ruins of Donegal Abbey, situated on the bay, are open to the public.
  • Golf - in addition to Murvagh there is fine 18 hole course in Bundoran (22km)
  • Surfing - Nearby Rossnowlagh has some of the best surfing in the world and the European Championships have been held here a number of times
  • Walking  - Many well-signed walks can be enjoyed in the  Bluestack Mountains.
  • Crafts -Visit the wonderful Craft Village in Donegal Town
  • Horse Riding -  There are several horse-riding and trekking establishments in the area where you can enjoy an afternoon on horseback, riding through some of Ireland's most beautiful scenery.
  • Cycling South Donegal abounds with small, winding roads which offer spectacular views around every corner and are ideal for cycling.
  • Angling - Anglers can use Cul an Chnoic as a bas for game, coarse and sea angling with sea angling boats available for local chartering. (The first salmon of the season is frequently caught in the River Drowse)
  • Waterworld in Bundoran - one of Ireland's leading Indoor Aqua Adventure Playground is located on the seafront in Bundoran

The spacious living area in the holiday home benefits from large windows so whatever the weather you can look down on Murvagh Beach and enjoy the ever-changing view. In winter months you can enjoy the wood burning stove, and use the television and video. There are a range of family videos, games and some books for your use. There are plenty of sofas and armchairs for everyone to relax in.

The kitchen and dining area is just a few steps away from the living space.  The spacious modern pine kitchen is  fully equipped, with electric oven, gas hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave , etc.

A separate utility area houses a washing machine and tumble dryer.

The bright open plan dining area with pine table, chairs and stools, is loacated on a raised balcony overlooking the living area.

Glass doors lead from the dining area to a multi level patio area, with garden furniture and barbeque.The garen of rhe holiday home features an array of wild flowers

Accommodarion in the holiday home is as follows:-

  • Main Level: Bedroom 1: with king-sized bed, sea views and en-suite shower
  • Main Level: Bedroom 2: with twin beds, bathroom next door
  • First Floor Level: Bedroom 3: with king-sized bed and a single bed
  • First Floor Level: Bedroom 4: with a double bed and a single bed and mountain views

On the main level there is a bathroom with bath and separate shower. A shower room is located on the first floor level

Also located on the first floor is a cosy reading loft.

Booking Details

  • We require a non-refundable deposit of £150 or at least 25% of the full rental amount on booking.
  • The balance is due not less than 30 days before your arrival date.
  • In the event of a cancellation within 30 days of arrival 50% of the full rental amount with be payable.
  • We respectfully suggest that you take out holiday insurance to cover you in the case of cancellation.
