Donegal Estuary Holiday Homes is a
development of modern detached cottages located in a natural
wooded setting beside Donegal Estuary, on the road to the beach. This
development features mature landscaped gardens and has its own private
tennis court.
The holiday homes are available to rent all the year round and provide
an ideal touring base to experience the magic of the beautiful
North-West of Ireland.
Each holiday home has 3 bedrooms to accommodate 5 people comfortably.
The large landscaped grounds surrounding the cottages are a safe
playground for children
Local Attractions
Donegal Town (2½ km ) is of great historical interest
and has numerous tourist attractions. The O'Donnells, chieftains of
Tirconaill, built the Franciscan Abbey in the town in 1474. In 1652 one
of the Franciscan monks together with three
laymen wrote the 'Annals of the Four Masters' - the most famous
chronicles of Irish history. An obelisk dedicated to the Four Masters is
located in the market square - 'The Diamond'. Donegal Castle stands
beside The Diamond, overlooking the River Eske. Guided historical tours
of Donegal Town take place on a daily basis during the summer and the
Waterbus takes you around Donegal Bay. The ruins of Donegal Abbey,
situated on the bay, are open to the public.
Donegal Craft Village is 1 km south
of Donegal Town and features innovative Irish crafts including
paintings, jewellery and ironmongery. The world famous Magee Tweed
shop is located in the centre of the town.
Donegal Town also has several first class hotels and restaurants. There
is entertainment each night in the local pubs with music to suit all
tastes.
Harvey's Point Restaurant & Country Hotel on Lough Eske is around
4km away and is renowned for its food.
Horse riding and walking are popular locally, with guided hill
walks along the Bluestack Way.
Nearby Murvagh has a beautiful Blue Flag Beach and a superb
championship golf links course.
The Waterworld complex in Bundoran is a 20 minute drive away.
Donegal is one of Ireland's primary angling areas with many
centres for salmon, sea and brown trout fishing. Charter boats are
available locally for hire.
Glenveagh National Park, 65 km away, has a resident red deer herd
and has recently been the location for the reintroduction of the Golden
Eagle to Ireland. Glenveagh Castle is surrounded by some of the finest and most
varied gardens in Ireland.
Within an hours drive of the cottages there
are numerous top class tourist attractions including The Ulster
American Folk Park in Omagh, the Marble Arch Caves in
Fermanagh and Slieve League in South West Donegal - the highest
sea cliffs in Europe.
