Eden Cottage is a modern architect designed house located on an elevated site within 2 minutes walk of Rosbeg beach. It enjoys beautiful views across Loughros Bay. This is the ideal base for a family holiday in one of the most unspoilt areas in Donegal with a child-friendly beach a stone’s throw away and a bigger, surf beach at Tramore a few minutes drive away. Local activities include golf, surfing, walking/ hiking, fishing (sea, lake and river),cycling and horse-riding.

Rosbeg

Rosbeg is a beautiful unspoilt area in west Donegal, close to Portnoo, and 10 minutes drive from the heritage town of Ardara. Rosbeg beach, which is a few minutes walk from the house is perfect for small children. It is a very safe bay, ideal for swimming, kayaking, shrimping, and jumping off the island in the middle of the beach. 10 minutes’ walk or 2 minutes drive away is Tramore beach, a large surf beach with surf school, ideal for surfing, body-boarding, and other more adventurous water-sports. 5 minutes drive away is the blue flag  Portnoo beach, with approximately 2kms of golden sands and its links golf course.

Local Attractions

Ardara, a bustling market town, is a centre for tweed production and is a great place to buy local crafts. It has numerous pubs, many boasting live traditional music at night, includin g Nancy’s Bar, famous for its seafood. Close to Ardara are the Maghery caves and waterfall and the Loughros peninsula, ideal for cycl ing and horse-riding. Beyond Maghery is the beautiful Glengesh Pass and Slieve League sea cliffs with stunning hiking trails.

There are a number of popular festival and events in this part of Donegal including he Seafood Festival in Portnoo and Rosbeg, the Harvest Fair and Fiddlers Weekend in Glenties and the Cup 'o Tae and Bluegrass Festivals in Ardara

Living Space


  Living Area

The large, open-plan living room – the full height of the house - is located to the front of the house, has an open fireplace with Danish wood-burning stove and enjoys sea views across Loughros Bay. It is tastefully furnished with modern furniture and has a solid maple wood floor.

The house  also has an upstairs sitting area which overlooks the living area internally and boasts panoramic views of the bay externally.

NB: No television -  you come here to truly escape

The modern kitchen is located to the rear of the house and is open to the adjacent dining area from which sliding doors lead to a south and west facing patio. A separate utility room houses the washing machine and also caters for wetsuit and equipment storage and drying.

Accommodation in the holiday home is as follows:-

  • Bedroom 1:  Double bedroom on first floor located to front of house with stunning sea views
  • Bedroom 2:  A second double bedroom on first floor
  • Bedroom 3:  2 bunk beds, one single bed on ground floor with sea views
  • Bedroom 4:  Single bed with extra bed on wheels underneath on ground floor

There is also a bathroom with bath and overhead shower located on ground floor and a shower room on upper floor with a pumped electric shower.

Booking deposit (non-refundable) of €100 per week - with balance to be paid six weeks prior to the letting period.
