Erin Cottage is a cosy and comfortable 3 bedroom holiday cottage located on the outskirts of Carndonagh on the Inishowen Peninsula in  Co Donegal. Its central location in Inishowen makes it an ideal base to explore this beautiful part of Ireland.

Carndonagh is the second largest town on the Inishowen Peninsuala. It lies close to the shores of beautiful Trawbreaga Bay and is just 18km south of Malin Head, Irelands most northerly point. It is an attractive market town laid out around a central square, or Diamond and has a great choice of cafés, pubs and shops. Carndonagh has a very active community of musicians, artists and writers and is home to the renowned Inishowen Carnival Group and the Inishowen Gospel choir (both international performers).

Superb Golf and a Choice of Beach Resorts

With is location just 1.5 south of the town centre, Erin Cottage home is centrally located between 4 of the main tourist towns on the Inishowen Peninsula –  Malin Town (7km), Culdaff (10km), Ballyliffin (11km) and Clonmany (12km).  The cottage is also just 20km from Moville on the shores of Lough Foyle and Buncrana on the shores of Lough Swilly.
The holiday home is also centrally located between some of the finest beaches on the Inishowen Peninsula including Five Finger Strand, Pollan Beach, Kinnego Bay and the superb blue flag beach at Culdaff

The internationally renowned Ballyliffin Golf Club is just 9.5km from the holiday cottage and features two championship links courses – The Old Course and the Glashedy Course .  Ballyliffin has been described as “the Ballybunion of the North” – and its not hard to see why. The golf links covers 365 acres of magnificent duneland and is bounded by rolling hills and mountains – the only other boundary is the Atlantic Ocean. There are also scenic golf courses at Redcastle (15km), Greencastle (22km) and at at  Lisfannon near Buncrana (25km). There is a top class childrens leisure and activity centre in Redcastle .

  • Visit the newly renovated Isle of Doagh Famine Village near Ballyliffin. This wondeful attraction depicts life in Donegal at different stages throughout history in an informative and enjoyable tour
  • Go pony trekking from a number of Equestrian Centres in and around Malin Town
  • Visit the Fort and Military Museum at Dunree.
  • Go sea angling from Culdaff. The Inishowen Boating Company operates 2 purpose built fast charter boats from Bunagee Pier Culdaff (12km) . These fully licenced vessels offer sea angling and sight seeing on Lough Foyle
  • Visit the Inishowen Maritime Museum in Greencastle, which includes a state-of-the-art planetarium
  • Visit the historic walled City of Derry (28km) – UK City of Culture 2013
  • Take a trip around the famous Inishowen 100 This is one of Ireland's most scenic drives. The route includes dramatic coastal scenery plus a fine collection of ancient forts and monuments, traditional craft centres, and a dozen or so friendly villages. Scenic highlights include the Gap of Mamore, and Malin Head -  Ireland's most northerly point
  • Use the Greencastle to Magilligan Ferry to explore the northern coast of Northern Ireland - The Giants Causeway, Bushmills Distillery, the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and Dunluce Castle are just some of the top attractions in this area.

The holiday cottage has a wonderfully cosy living room with an open fireplace.  It is comfortably furnished and has a tv and dvd player. There is a small book library and a selection of kids dvds and board games is available on request.

Kitchen  Kitchen

The cottage has a bright kitchen that features a gas cooker and hobs, microwave and fridge. Ample crockery and cutlery is provided. The kitchen has a dining table and 6 chairs and also a small breakfast bar with high stools.

A washing machine and tumble drier are located in a separate utility room.

Bedrooms  Bedrooms

Accommodation in the holiday cottage is made up as follows:-

  • Bedroom 1: Ground floor, double bedroom, landscape views
  • Bedroom 2: Ground floor, double bedroom
  • Bedroom 3: Ground floor, single bedroom, landscape views

All bedrooms have their own bedside lockers with bed lamps and ample storage for cloths etc. There is also a ground floor bathroom with bath and electric shower
