Falmore Cottage - Dungloe

Nestled along the scenic northwest coast overlooking  Gweebarra Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, this lovely cottage is located near Crohy Head in the rural village of Falmore.

Here you will find an ideal retreat for writers, readers, photographers, hikers and anyone seeking a special place to relax. Swim at secluded sandy beaches, golf on beautiful Cruit Island, or fish for salt and fresh water catch in the center of the renowned Rosses region.

About the house

As featured in Harvard Magazine, this elegant and comfortable home offers spectacular views from every room. You will enjoy a fully furnished architect designed home which combines all modern amenities with traditional Donegal warmth. Features include charming oversized window seat in main room, wood floors and ceiling beams, dramatic two-story stone fireplace, with natural tile, slate and stucco elements throughout.

The house comfortably sleeps 6 in an en suite master bedroom with queen bed, a guest room with twin beds and separate full bathroom, and an upstairs loft study/bedroom with two additional twin beds. All linens are included. The eat-in kitchen is fully equipped. In addition to central heat you can enjoy a turf/coal burning stove in the main room. The south facing stone patio outdoors overlooks the ocean. A stone garden shed with thatched roof is a few steps away from the main house.

Air connections are excellent from nearby Carrickfin airport that features daily flights to and from Dublin. Car hire is available at the airport.

Living Space

  Kitchen

The large modern kitchen is comfortable for dining or just having a cup of tea. Bright and cheerful, this area has windows on three sides. Enjoy the surrounding countryside and the elemental beauty of the west Donegal coastline.

  Living Room

A turf and coal burning hearth is made of stone and tile. There is a dramatic stone and stucco chimney that extends to the cathedral ceiling. Relax and talk about the days exploring while enjoying the aroma of a real turf fire.

  Patio

The ocean-facing patio is a comfortable place to relax on the south side of the cottage. Stone walls, similar to those found throughout west Donegal, surround the patio and garden areas. Enjoy the marvellous views.

  Sea Views

Every room has stunning sea views, but the oversized window seat in the main room is a favourite spot to sit and watch the ever-changing land, sky, and ocean.

Booking Details

Reservation/security deposit of euro100, refunded within two weeks of departure assuming no damage, with full payment due six weeks prior to the letting period.
