The house is a modern two storey home set on a large, lawned property, in a rural setting, overlooking Lough Foyle on the east side of the Inishowen Peninsula.

It has four bedrooms to sleep up to ten. (With the inclusion of a sleeper couch.) There is a main bathroom, an en-suite and a separate shower room adjacent to the utility room. The lounge has a unique raised fireplace with a solid fuel stove, which also heats the rear dining room. The fully fitted kitchen is equipped with all the latest appliances, and there is a spacious hallway. Needless to say, the house is also fully insulated, double glazed and has oil fired central heating to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Outside, there is a gravel surround and driveway, and the holiday home is fully fenced to make a secure environment for young children and pets. Patio furniture and a barbeque are available for outdoor entertaining or relaxation.

Situated about 3km inland from the banks of Lough Foyle near Redcastle, The property lies on the lower slopes of 'Puckan Hill', and there are magnificent views across Lough Foyle.

Local Attractions

Redcastle lies between Moville and Quigley's Point. There is little information regarding its origins, as It is more a locality than a town or village as such. The two main attractions in the area though, are;
The Carlton Redcastle Hotel; a popular 4 star luxury spa resort, which is set among mature woodland with its own 9-hole parkland golf course and on-site Helipad. It 'oozes charm, style and warm hospitality'. The C-Spa, with its powerful sea therapies, renowned for their dramatic effects in revitalising, rebalancing and healing the body, will ensure the chaos of the outside world is instantly forgotten.

The other attraction is Leisure Land Redcastle; one of Ireland's leading Indoor & Outdoor Leisure and Amusement Centres. If offers a wide variety of entertainment for children of all ages. It is ideally situated in an enclosed area ensuring safety and freedom throughout the day, and activities include: dodgems, small car track, ball pool, junior twist, Eldorado guns, video rooms, multi-lane slide, Santa-Fe trains, Sky mast. Thunder Jets, etc. Amenities include: Restaurant, Shops, tuck shop, Souvenir Shops and Picnic Areas.

Apart from the nine hole course at the hotel, Golfers can also play their game at Greencastle, Culmore in Derry City, Buncrana on Inishowen's west coast, and at the famous Ballyliffin Club with its two links courses. Access to all courses mentioned should be within a fifty minute drive or less.

Surrounding Area

There is an abundance of natural scenic beauty in the surrounding landscape waiting to be explored and appreciated, and we suggest the  motorist take the drive known as the 'Inishowen 100', which circumnavigates the peninsula, over a 100 mile route, allowing the tourist to see most of what Inishowen has to offer. You will not be disappointed. (Unless you forget your camera.)

Should you wish to visit the Northern Ireland Coast , with The Giants Causeway, Bushmills Distillery, and Dunluce Castle among some of its attractions, there is the very convenient ferry service between Greencastle and Magilligan Point. This will shorten the distance considerably, by not having to drive all the way around the Foyle, via Derry.

Derry City is about twenty minutes drive south and is well worth visiting. It has a rich historical and cultural heritage, with many places of interest including the old walled city, museums, art galleries, theatres, cinemas and shops.

The nearest sandy beaches are to the north, with a few at Moville, Greencastle, and at Dunagree Point near the Lighthouse. Some very scenic beaches, surrounded by cliffs are to be found at Kinnegoe Bay, where a Spanish Armada Ship, the Trinidad Valencera ran aground in 1588. Further west on the northern coast, is the Blue Flag status beach at Culdaff, which has a safe play area for children next to the car park.

What they say

First can I just echo the comments that have been made about your site? It is by far the best site for cottages that I have stumbled accross! Great pictures, clear descriptions, good search facilities, etc.
