Fuschia Cottage - Greencastle

Pets AllowedOpen Fire

Fuschia Cottage is a cosy 2 bedroom holiday cottage in a peaceful setting in the coastal resort of Greencastle. Located opposite the ancient ruins of Northburg Castle, the cottage is a few minutes walk away from the centre of Greencastle and the shores of Lough Foyle.

The cottage has the best of both worlds – the village on its doorstep and yet enjoying lovely countryside views.  A cosy living/ kitchen room features an open fireplace. The double and twin bedrooms share a bathroom with bath and overhead shower. The walled gardens around the cottage enjoy hill and countryside views. The cottage's location at the bottom of a country lane ensures peace and tranquillity.

Greencastle

Greencastle has transformed itself from a fishing village to a popular holiday destination in recent years.  It is located along the Wild Atlantic Way and is a good base to explore the beautiful Inishowen Peninsula. With the Ferry across the Foyle to Magilligan in Co Derry, Greencastle is also a great base to explore the north-west coastline of Northern Ireland.

In Greencastle itself, there is a fine Maritime Museum and a Planetarium.  The village is also home to the famous Kealy's Seafood Bar which boasts the best seafood in the area, fresh each day from the local pier.  There is also a lovely coastal walk from Greencastle to nearby Moville.

Greencastle Golf Club

The holiday cottage is just 1.5km from Greencastle Golf Club. This 18 hole course has an idyllic setting.  On one side it is bordered by Lough Foyle with panoramic views over this majestic lough towards Magilligan Strand and the mountains of North Derry. On the other side, there are equally spectacular views towards the Inishowen hills. Visitors are assured of a warm and friendly welcome and a memorable game golf at Greencastle Golf Club. Even if the golf isn’t good you will certainly appreciate the views.

Local Beaches

Stroove (An tSrúibh) Blue Flag Beach is located just over 2.5km north of Fuschia Cottage. Stroove beach consists of a small sandy beach, close to the iconic Shroove Lighthouse. It is a great beach for a family picnic or a brisk walk on the Inishowen Head Walk.

There are also several fine sandy coves along the Moville to Greencastle coastal footpath. 7km north of Greencastle is the superb Kinnagoe Bay with its beautiful sheltered beach. Kinnagoe Bay was the site of the wreck of the Spanish Armada vessel, the La Trinidad Valecera, which went down in 1588.

What they say

I travel a lot so I'm always looking for interesting places to stay - anything to avoid another carbon copy hotel - and this has got to be one of the best local travel sites I've seen. Plenty of detail, tons of photos, excellent location info and clear pricing - everything I need to make an informed call. Great job and I'll be recommending the site to anyone else I know who's travelling in Donegal.
