Golf Lodge is a 4 bedroom detached beach property on a large private secluded site in the seaside village of Portsalon on the Fanad Peninsula. Perched on the water’s edge and beside Portsalon Golf Club, this modern house has breathtaking panoramic views over Ballymastocker Bay and Lough Swilly towards Knockalla Mountain and Dunree Fort. The house is a tranquil base to relax or to explore north Donegal and the Wild Atlantic Way.

Golf Links and Blue Flag Beach on your Doorstep

The house boasts its own private tennis court/basketball court.  If tennis or basketball is not your thing, a 1 minute walk from the house will have you on the first tee of Portsalon 18 hole golf links.  Alternatively, enjoy a long walk on the award winning Ballymastocker blue flag beach. For a longer walk take to the surrounding hills and coastal paths.  This part of the Wild Atlantic Way is a haven for walkers, photographers, nature lovers and bird watchers.  For those who enjoy water sports this is an ideal location for surfing, stand-up paddling, kayaking, swimming and sea angling.

If you are too busy enjoying yourself or don’t want to cook (or drive), the house is extremely convenient to local eateries and pubs.  Following your round of golf or beach walk, adjourn to the clubhouse and bar of Portsalon Golf Club for a pint and food.  Alternatively a 3 minute walk will take you to The Stores pub serving good food in a relaxed atmosphere.  Next door is The Pier (Sarah’s) Restaurant and the adjacent local takeaway will satisfy your longing for seaside fish and chips!  A 10 minute walk will also take you down to the Blueberry Café and Restaurant at Portsalon cross.  You can also go further afield (10 minute drive) to the Fanad Lodge.

Surrounding Area

  • The house is a good base to explore the north Donegal section of Irelands Wild Atlantic Way.
  • With beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean and rugged coastline, Fanad Lighthouse is a 10 minute drive north from the house - this is one of the signature points on the Wild Atlantic Way
  • The designated heritage town of Ramelton (check out the local connection to Jane Austen) is a 30 minute drive. 
  • The seaside town of Rathmullan is home to the Flight of the Earls Heritage Centre and Rathmullan House (Blue Book hotel) and is a 20 minute drive away. Rathmullan has charter boats available for sea fishing or sightseeing.
  • Letterkenny is 25 miles away providing excellent shopping facilities, theatre, cinema, bowling, nightlife and restaurants.
  • Travel over the nearby Harry Blaney Bridge and visit Downings (excellent for wind-surfing), Glenveagh Castle and National Park, Glebe Gallery , Ards Forest Park, Dunfanaghy and the stunning Horn Head.

The holiday home has a large enclosed garden and three separate viewing platforms / patio area to sit and relax and enjoy the superb views that stretch from Portsalon Pier across Ballymastocker Strand to Knockalla Mountain and across Lough Swilly to the hills of Inishowen.

The property boasts its own private tennis court/basketball court.

This top class self catering establishment has a fully equipped kitchen with a separate utility room. In addition to the normal appliances the kitchen equipment includes a DeLonghi coffee machine, steamer, blender, and sandwich maker. The adjacent dining area takes advantage of the superb views outside.

Booking Details

Booking deposit (non-refundable) of euro 200 per week - with balance to be paid six weeks prior to the letting period. We also ask for a refundable damage deposit of €200 to be paid along with the final payment.
