The Golfer's Rest - Donegal Town

Golfers Rest is a lovely 3 bedroom holiday home with a wonderful location on the shores of Donegal Bay on the outskirts of Donegal Town.  Situated on the shore side of the Old Golf Course Road the holiday home enjoys sweeping panoramic views over Donegal Bay.   With views over the water to the wooded countryside beyond it may be hard to believe that this lovely holiday home is within walking distance of the heart of historic Donegal Town.

The holiday home has been designed to make maximum use of its idyllic setting.  The living room, dining area, sun room and two of the three bedrooms enjoy superb sea views.  The fenced front lawn slopes down towards the waters edge 50 metres away.

Donegal Town

Donegal Town itself is of great historical interest and has numerous tourist attractions. Donegal Castle stands beside The Diamond, overlooking the River Eske. Guided historical tours of Donegal Town take place on a daily basis during the summer and the Waterbus takes you around Donegal Bay -  and will provide you with a view of the holiday home from the sea. The ruins of Donegal Abbey, situated on the bay, are open to the public.

Also close to the holiday home is the quaint Donegal Craft Village. The workshops in this village are leased to professional artists and crafts people. All the unique products you will see in the village are handmade by these talented artists.  Located on the Diamond is the renowned Magee of Donegal. Opened in 1866 this historic shop has a great selection of tweeds for both men and women and beautiful knitwear and a large range of casual wear. Donegal Town also has several first class hotels and restaurants. There is entertainment most nights in the local pubs with music to suit all tastes.

The holiday home is 8km from the beautiful Lough Eske. Translated from Irish Lough Eske means "Lake of the Fish". Unsurprisingly then, the lake and its tributaries are popular for fishing, especially for spring salmon, sea trout and  alpine char, with the season running from 1 March to 31September. Lough Eske is surrounded to the north, east and west by the Bluestack Mountains, which occupy most of central and eastern Donegal. The Bluestack Way is a Waymarked Way designed to traverse the Bluestacks using existing roadways, paths and tracks to lead the walkers through the mountains in a safe and sustainable manner.

• Golf - superb 18 hole links championship courses are located at nearby Murvagh (9km) and at Bundoran (28km)
• Surfing – Rossnowlagh (16km) has some of the best surfing in the world and the European Championships have been held here a number of times
• Walking - Many well-signed walks can be enjoyed in the nearby Bluestack Mountains .
• Crafts- visit the Craft Village in Donegal Town
• Horse-Riding - There are several horse-riding and trekking establishments in the area where you can enjoy an afternoon on horseback, riding through some of Ireland's most beautiful scenery.
• Cycling - South Donegal abounds with small, winding roads which offer spectacular views around every corner and are ideal for cycling.
• Angling - coarse and sea angling with sea angling boats available for local chartering.
• Waterworld in Bundoran - one of Ireland's leading Indoor Aqua Adventure Playgrounds is located on the seafront in Bundoran
• Glenveagh National Park is approximately 1 Hour away

  Living Room

The bright living room is located to the front of the holiday home and enjoys wonderful views over Donegal Bay. The room is comfortably furnished and has an open fireplace. For home entertainment there is a tv and dvd player.

  Kitchen

The kitchen forms part of an open plan area that also encompasses a dining area and sun room. The modern kitchen has a range style cooker with gas hobs, microwave, dishwasher, and fridge freezer. An adjacent utility has a washing machine and tumble dryer.

  Dining and Sun Room Area

Both the dining area and sun room enjoy lovely views over Donegal Bay. The dining area has a table and 6 chairs. The sun room is comfortably furnished and features a high ceiling. A glass sliding door leads from the sun room to the front lawn which slopes down towards the waters edge.

Booking deposit (non-refundable) of euro100 per week - with balance to be paid six weeks prior to the letting period.
