Hannah's Cottage - Dungloe

Hannah’s Cottage is a modern 3 bedroom cottage with an idyllic setting overlooking Craghy Lake just 3km outside Dungloe Town – the capital of the Rosses area of West Donegal.

This lovely holiday home is just 300 metres from the lake shore. Craghy Lake is one of the main lakes in the Rosses Fishery. The fishing theme is evident in the beautiful living room of the cottage. This living room is entered via a modern style half door and features a wonderfully high ceiling. An open fireplace provides a warm focal point to this living space (turf supplied). There are superb views of the lake from the living area and from the bedrooms. The holiday cottage also has mature lawns to the front and the side.

A Fishermans Paradise

Unsurprisingly Hannah’s Cottage is an ideal base for the keen fisherman. Not only is it close to the main lakes of the Rosses Fishery, it is also with easy driving distance of Loughanure and the Clady and Crolly rivers. Sea Angling is also a popular activity in the nearby coastal towns of Burtonport and Kincasslagh.

The area around Hannah’s Cottage is wonderful walking terrain.  The route of Slí na Rosann passes close by the cottage. Slí na Rosann is a 65km circular route covering much of the Rosses area, which lies between the western reaches of the Derryveagh Mountains and the much indented Atlantic coast of west County Donegal. It is a wonderfully scenic, rock-strewn landscape scattered with more than a hundred lakes, which make it a mecca for anglers.

Dungloe Festivals

A 5 minute car journey will take you from Hannah’s cottage into the bustling town of Dungloe. This vibrant town hosts a number of festivals and other organised events throughout the year catering for almost every taste. These include the internationally renowned Mary Form Dungloe Festival which takes place each summer. During this 10-day event visitors to Dungloe are treated to a fantastic programme of music, song, dance and street entertainment.

A major new festival is Seisiún Tir Conaill, a unique Irish festive weekend of Traditional Irish Music.The festival entails a Pub Session Competition, which takes place on the first weekend in June. There is also a festival dedicated to the local writer Peadar O'Donnell  each autumn. Nearby Burtonport has a week long summer festival in July each year catering for all age groups.

Day Trips

There are a number of worthwhile day trips that can be enjoyed from Hanah’s Cottage. These include nearby Aranmore Island, the Dunlewey Lakeside Centre, the Fintown Railway and the magnificent Glenveagh National Park. Historic Donegal Town and the famous sea cliffs at Slieve League are just over an hours drive from the holiday home

The living room in Hanah's cottage has a high ceilng provding a wonderful sense of space. This living space has lovely views over the popular fishing lake outside  - there are reminders of this relaxing activity in the decor. An open fireplace provides a warm focal point (an initial supply of turf is provided). For home entertainment there is a tv and dvd player

The living room has a modern half door which can provide extra natural light - and cooling air - when needed.

  Kitchen

The kitchen in Hanah's cottage has free standing appliances including electric oven and gas hob, fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer. A traditional style kitchen dresser gives a cosy feel to the area.

Booking deposit (non-refundable) of euro100 per week - with balance to be paid six weeks prior to the letting period.
