
Haven Cottage is a recently refurbished holiday home located just outside the popular beach and surfing resort of Rossnowlagh in South Donegal. From its elevated site the holiday home enjoys superb panoramic views over Donegal Bay towards the Bluestack Mountains, St John’s Point and Slieve League. On clear days the Dartry Mountains in Sligo can be seen from the wonderful sun room.
Accommodation in the holiday home is carefully planned, well laid out, spacious and comprises of a kitchen and dining room, separate utility room, superb new sun room, cosy living room, 3 bedrooms (1 ensuite) and main bathroom. A large fenced in lawn is located to the rear of the house – providing a secure playground for children. A secure garden shed is available to store bicycles / surfboards etc.
The village of Rossnowlagh itself lies between Ballyshannon and Donegal Town in South Donegal. It has one of Irelands most beautiful stretches of beach - miles of golden sand enclosed by gentle hills. Belalt Strand, more commonly known as Rossnowlagh Strand has – in recent years - become very popular with surfers not only from Ireland but from all over Europe and elsewhere in the world. Surfboards and wetsuits, as well as surf lessons, are available for hire at the surf club on the seafront. The magnificent beach also provides ideal conditions for safe bathing (with lifeguard patrols), walking, jogging and simply enjoying the invigorating fresh sea air. Close by, the Donegal Historical Society Museum is housed in the Franciscan Friary and is well worth a visit.
In addition to the wonderful blue flag beach Rossnowlagh has a selection of fine pubs & restaurants - including the superb Seashell Restaurant in the Sandhouse Hotel and the renowned Smugglers Creek bar/restaurant. Good food is also available in nearby Herons Cove and Creevy Pier Hotel
Rossnowlagh is an ideal base to tour the North West of Ireland. The beautiful beaches and coastline of South Donegal are on you doorstep. Within a half hours drive you also have the wonderful ‘Yeats Country’ in Sligo and the majestic Fermanagh Lakelands.
Surfing Rossnowlagh has some of the best surfing in the world and the European Championships have been held here a number of times
Golf - superb 18 hole links championship courses are located at Murvagh, near Donegal Town and at Bundoran
Walking - The Creevy Shore Walk is a purpose built coastal footpath 10 miles in length running from Rossnowlagh through Creevy to the mouth of the Erne Estuary. There is also some excellent long distance walks such as the Blue Stack Way and Baile na Gaeltachta [the Gaeltacht Way].
Donegal Town (15km) is of great historical interest and has numerous tourist attractions. Donegal Castle stands beside The Diamond, overlooking the River Eske. Guided historical tours of Donegal Town take place on a daily basis during the summer and the Waterbus takes you around Donegal Bay. The ruins of Donegal Abbey, situated on the bay, are open to the public.
Creevy Pier - for tours of Donegal Bay, including, Slieve League - the highest sea cliffs in Europe.
Horse-Riding There are several horse-riding and trekking establishments in the area where you can enjoy an afternoon on horseback, riding through some of Ireland's most beautiful scenery.
Cycling South Donegal abounds with small, winding roads which offer spectacular views around every corner and are ideal for cycling.
Angling - anglers can sample game, coarse and sea angling with sea angling boats available for local chartering. (The first salmon of the season is frequently caught in the nearby River Drowse)
Waterworld in Bundoran - one of Ireland's leading Indoor Aqua Adventure Playground is located on the seafront in Bundoran (10km)
The holiday home has a bright kitchen and dining area. The large kitchen window looks out over the back garden lawn and provides uninterrupted views of Donegal Bay. The modern fitted kitchen itself is fully equipped for the most adventurous of chefs. A washing machine and tumble dryer are located in an adjacent utility room.
The cosy living room features a comfortable furniture suite, open fireplace, flat screen tv and dvd player.
A large sun room which has recently been added to the holiday home provides a second living area. The large fenced-in back garden lawn is an ideal playground for children.
The holiday home has 3 comfortable bedrooms - all carpeted. The ensuite double bedroom located to the rear of the house enjoys wonderful sea views. To the front of the house there are 2 bedrooms - a double and a twin. These are adjacent to the bathroom which features a bath and separate shower
The sun room is a recent extension to the building and was designed to take full advantage of the wonderful scenery surrounding the holiday home. From the sun room you have views of Donegal Bay, the Bluestack Mountains, St Johns Point, Slieve League and on clear days you can see as far as the Dartry Mountains in Sligo and Leitrim
