Hillview is a luxury holiday home located in the coastal village of Gortahork on the north west Donegal coastline. The holiday home is located in a peaceful setting, yet is within easy walking distance of the local bars, shops and local restaurant. Based at Hillview you will not find it hard to find something to do - climb the local hills and mountains; take a boat trip to Tory Island, surf the waves at Magheroarty, golf at Falcarragh, fish on the Dunfanaghy Lakes or visit the magnificent Glenveagh National Park

Gortahork is located in the West Donegal Gaeltacht - Ireland's largest gaeltacht area. The Irish Language has survived in this area -  along with much of the traditional Irish Culture that has now been lost to many other areas of the county.

Ideal Tour Base for North West Donegal

All around Gortahork you will find rugged peninsulas, clean beaches and towering mountains. West Donegal is famous for its natural beauty - from the majesty of Glenveagh National Park to the wild Atlantic views along the Rosses and Gweedore coastline. Errigal and the Derryveagh Mountains are only 15 minutes drive away. The Dunlewey Lakeside Centre is a similar distance by car and boasts an exciting historical display of local crafts, trips on the lake, play facilities for children and pony trekking.

This beautiful part of Ireland is also an ideal base for hill and coastal walking.  Within 15 minutes drive of the holiday home you will find
•    Tullaghbegly Mountain Walk
•    Muckish Mountain.
•    Errigal -  Donegal's highest mountain.
•    The Derryveagh Mountains -- Part of the Glenveagh National Park.
There are also a number of beautiful forest walks in the wonderful Ards Forest Park near Dunfanaghy

Local Activities / Attractions

  • Enjoy beautiful unspoilt beaches in the locality - at Magheroarty  and  Falcarragh
  • Golf at the Gloughaneely Golf Club in nearby Falcarragh. Within 20 minutes drive there are 2 other links courses at Gweedore and Dunfanaghy 
  • Take a day trip to Tory Island or Inishboffin Island. The ferry service to Tory Island is available from Magheroarty Pier several times a day - weather permitting
  • Find numerous peaceful roads, country lanes and mountain tracks to walk. Slí an Earagail - a Bealach na Gaeltachta Waymarked Way - passes through the locality
  • Climb Muckish and Errigal. Mount Errigal, the highest mountain in Donegal is a demanding climb and once on the summit you can see for miles around
  • Visit  the beautiful gardens and castle of Glenveagh National Park
  • Take a trip around the spectacular Bloody Foreland
  • Visit Dunlewey Lakeside Centre - Facilities include restaurant, tea-room, craft shop,  adventure play areas, pets & animals, storytelling, boat trips on Dunlewey Lake, guided tours and weaving demonstrations. There is also a state of the art theatre which features performances from Irish and International artists.

The holiday home has large open plan area on the ground floor encompassing a kitchen, dining area and a conservatory style sitting area. The stylish modern fitted kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher. There is a large dining table and 6 elegant dining chairs.

A separate utility houses a washing machine.

A lovely conservatory style sitting area forms part of the open plan ground floor. It enjoys views towards the hills that form the backdrop to Gortahork.
