The cottage is a re-creation of a
traditional Irish cottage with pine floors and ceilings, the stairs
are quite steep, but this would be the norm in old cottages. The bedroom
furniture is all pine giving a warm comfortable feel to the cottages.
There is an open fire with turf available in addition to oil
fired central heating - an immersion heater is available for hot water
on warmer summer days. The outside has a small garden with newly planted
shrubs and flowers - still in their infancy, as the cottages are new.
There is plenty of space outside for barbeque - outdoor table and
chairs are supplied.
For those who would like to chill out,
this is the perfect location, the stillness at night is amazing, the
stars seem to multiply as they are not affected by light pollution. The
cottages are also ideally located along the centre of the western
seaboard, with excellent scenic drives to the north or south of
the county - places and areas of special interest are well signposted.
The cottages are on a single track road, in a scenic area which still
has that remoteness of old Donegal, among rocky wild countryside,
with huge areas of wild whins sporting their striking yellow flowers.
They are within 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive of the huge areas of
sandy beaches – especially Arlands Strand and Keadue beach.
You can walk for miles along the coast or explore the rocky outcrops and
sea-pools.
For the scuba enthusiast there are the steep walls of the rocky
outcrops which hold a variety of fish and sea creatures. This is
especially interesting and safe for those children who want to explore
or snorkel or scuba. They can be supervised from the rocks above the
relatively shallow water.
For the fisherman there is deep sea angling from Burtonport, 10
minutes drive away or freshwater fishing in lake Wasker, 100
metres from the cottage. The cottages are on a recognised and well
marked, interlinked network of walking trails. There are excellent award
winning restaurants in the fishing port of Burtonport.

The Golf course on the peninsula of
Cruit Island is within 15 minutes by car or there are several other
courses within easy reach.
The land surrounding the cottages is an
adventure playground for children with a rocky area and
approximately 6 acres to explore - with pheasant, rabbits, birds and
dragonflies. Lots of fish in the lake too.
Nearest Village: Dungloe - 3 miles,
Burtonport - 3 miles
Beaches: Arlands Strand for swimming and Keadue beach where the
bay drys out allowing miles of excellent beach walks
Golf Course: Cruit island golf course - 15 min drive
Distance details: Cottages are centrally located within minutes
of some of the numerous summer festivals which run during the summer
months, with music of all styles and markets for all types of goods
including locally produced organic produce. |
