A newly built spacious
four bedroom cottage, with
coastal views located in Carrick, Derrybeg, close to Port Arthur beach,
Bloody Foreland, local shops, pubs (Teach-Jack)
and amenities. An ideal base for touring the northwest coast of Donegal.
Derrybeg is located in the Gaeltacht of
North West Donegal and is an ideal base for touring this beautiful
region.
The area is famed for its sheltered sandy beaches, spectacular rugged
coastline and the warmth of the welcome extended to visitors to the
area.
In the long evenings locals and visitors gather in the village's pubs to
listen to live traditional music - indeed this area is the heartland of
such renowned groups as Altan and Clannad.
There is a good selection of restaurants in
the area such as Ostan Gweedore which has an award winning sea-food
restaurant, and Teach Jack in Glassagh, being well worth a visit.
Traditional music sessions can be found in the local pubs nightly.
After you've spent a while in the area you're sure to discover the truth
of Donegal Tourism's promotional
slogan.. "up here it's different."
Local activities in the area include (to
mention a few) -
Swimming, surfing, scuba diving, fresh water and deep-sea angling,
boating; in sail or motor, and on sea or lake.
Horse riding or pony trekking.
Golf, cycling, and the increasingly popular hill-walking.
- Or one could just go for a quiet walk on a deserted beach...
On rainy days, the local leisure centre has a gym and a heated indoor
swimming pool.
From the harbour pier at Bunbeg, daily boat trips to the islands of
Tory
and Gola are offered. (subject to availability and weather conditions.)
The breathtaking landscape of Donegal is
unforgettable.
A short drive will take you to many scenic sights and locations,
including Mount Errigal (a very popular spot for climbers and hikers alike),
Glenveagh National
Park and Castle, Dunlewey Centre
(which boasts walks, sports, rifle shoot, treasure and scavenger hunts)
and the Burtonport fishing village to name a few. |
