Largymore Cottage lies some 5km East of Kilcar, and 6km West of
Killybegs. Just off the main coastal road serving South Western Donegal, it reposes on a slope which gradually rises to meet Crownarad Hill at the rear, and faces South with spectacular sea views of Donegal Bay. - On a clear day, one can see the flat topped Benbulben mountain in county Sligo (at the foot of which lies the grave of the poet W.B. Yeats.)

The cottage is comfortable and
tastefully furnished, with 4 bedrooms, each with a double bed, sleeping up to 8 adults. The upstairs landing opens to a small, sheltered roof balcony to make the most of the forward views. A main bathroom, 2 en-suites and a downstairs toilet and shower for attending to ablutions. There are 2 living rooms on either side of the entrance hall, each with its own traditional open fireplace. A large fully fitted kitchen with an adjoining utility room and a separate dining area overlooking the east facing living room complete the interior spaces.

Nearest to the cottage is the picturesque village of Kilcar, which is known to be a centre of the Donegal hand-woven tweed industry, along with hand-embroidery, knitting, and other cottage industries which flourish in this area.

Hill walking is popular, and to cater for that, the Kilcar Way Walk allows one a choice of three different, but equally beautiful routes all starting in the village: - one loops around the western foothills of Mulnanaff; - another runs east and north-east to Kilcar Forest; - the third skirts around Tawny.

There are also remains of an
ancient ring fort, a 'megalithic' tomb and the ruins of (the original) St Cartha's Church, built in the 7th century, and from which Kilcar is named.

A little further from the cottage to the east is the small town of
Killybegs; - one of Irelands most important fishing ports. Situated on a fine natural harbour, opening out to McSwyne's Bay. The town is also gaining a reputation as a water sports centre. There is sea and river fishing, sub-aqua diving, tennis and dancing! The Killybegs International Sea Angling Festival is held in August.

The town is home to The Tourism College Killybegs, the only dedicated tourism institute in Ireland offering different courses in culinary and hospitality skills. Killybegs is also famous for its tapestries and carpets, and the Donegal carpet factory is known to have the worlds biggest carpet loom! The carpets are known as 'Donegal's' and are hand knotted in the Turkish style. They adorn many important buildings in Ireland and internationally are found in The Vatican, The Whitehouse, Downing Street and Buckingham Palace.

From Kilcar, then on to
Carrick, and driving just a little further west, you will approach Slieve League, a  steep mountain of nearly 2000 feet, with its southern face forming a precipice descending right into the Atlantic. It is one of the tallest sea cliffs in Europe. For those with a head for heights, one of the most remarkable walks to be found in Ireland, called "One Mans Path" traverses the ridge; - needing careful progress on a stormy day!

Nestling on the north face is a small lake called Lough Agh, where the most varied group of
alpine plants anywhere in Donegal are to be found.
