Newly built luxury holiday home in peaceful
rural location overlooking the proposed new Jack Nicklaus designed golf
course on Donegal's north coast. This spacious home is ideal for
the extended family who wish to holiday together in this beautiful part
of the northwest. Rosapenna Golf Club and the fabulous beach
at Downings are only a 5 min drive away. Links View is furnished and
equipped to the highest standards and provides sleeping accommodation
for up to 11 people.
The nearby village of Carrigart has a range of small local shops along the main street. A relaxing day can be spent browsing these shops, chatting with the locals or perhaps popping into the Carrigart Hotel for some fresh local seafood washed down with a pint of Guinness.
New Golf Course
For over three decades Jack Nicklaus has also being designing golf courses and he has won many awards for his creations down the years. Indeed, the "Nicklaus Design" is now recognised as the world leader and to have the stamp of the
"Golden Bear" on your course is the ticket to commercial success. Recently Nicklaus signed a contract with a local Development Group to redesign the 36 holes at the scenic St. Patrick's Golf Links in
Carrigart, an area overlooked by Links View.
During a clear October afternoon in late 2005 he walked the course and admitted afterwards that he was really looking forward to the challenge of
designing a first class 18 hole championship standard course, as well as a second quality 18 holes. He was really taken in by the beauty of the area which overlooks Sheephaven Bay and runs along a mile long sandy beach. "It's a very special spot and the scenery is breathtaking. I am looking forward to taking the ground and finding a golf course as opposed to constructing one and I don't think I will have great difficulty in doing that given the terrain."
Glenveagh National Park
Here within a late 19th century setting in a rugged and remote mountain valley, Henry McIlhenny from Philadelphia created one of the most celebrated gardens in Ireland. Woodland gardens and pleasure grounds, an Italian terrace with antique sculpture and terracotta pots, are all skilfully interwoven against the wild and beautiful Donegal landscape.
Ards Forest Park
As well as being one of the most beautiful, Ards is certainly the most varied of Ireland's forest parks. Bays, rivers,
loughs, beaches, salt marshes, valleys, viewing points, deer enclosures and historic monuments are woven together by a series of fascinating nature trails.
Atlantic Drive
This spectacular drive begins in Downings village and it offers some of the most awe inspiring scenery in County Donegal.
Nearby activities and attractions include:
- Scuba Diving and sea fishing in Downings
- Golf at Rosapenna and Carrigart
- Hillwalking
- Pony trekking
Links View Holiday Home is ideally located to take full advantage of all
this beautiful area has to offer and makes the ideal base for your family
or golf group's holiday in northwest Donegal.
Book early to avoid disappointment, especially for the peak summer months of July and August. |
