Lis na Mara is a modern 4 bedroom holiday home situated on a hillside overlooking Marble Hill near the holiday village of Dunfanaghy in North West Donegal. Views from the front of the holiday home sweep spectacularly over Breaghy Head and Sheephaven Bay towards the Rosguill Peninsula and the restless Atlantic Ocean beyond. These wonderful views can be enjoyed from the conservatory, the living room and from three of the four bedrooms.
From the holiday home it is a leisurely ½km stroll downhill to the the shores of Sheephaven Bay at Marble Hill. Marble Hill lies on the eastern side of Breaghy Head with Portnablagh - centred on a lovely harbour, pier and beach - lying on the western side. The Breaghy headland and its beautiful sheltered Marble Hill beach has been a favourite family holiday destination for generations. The beach is one of two blue flag beaches in the Dunfanaghy area – Killahoey beach being the other. Marble Hill is suitable for swimming, sailing, motor boating, water skiing, canoeing and windsurfing.
Just below the holiday home is the wonderful 4 star Shandon Hotel. This hotel features a modern spa and wellness centre which is open to the public. The hotel bar, lounge and leisure centre all enjoy the beautiful vista of Marble Hill Strand.
The holiday home is about 2km from Portnablagh and 4km from Dunfanaghy. Dunfanaghy is a vibrant seaside village with fine restaurants, friendly traditional pubs, craft shops and art galleries. It has an abundance of amenities for the visitor. Killahoey Beach is a mecca for water sports enthusiasts – swimmers, wind surfers and kite surfers. The golf course stretches along the length of the beach and provides a very good golf links challenge. Horse Riding is also available along the beach or among the quiet roads surrounding the town.
Dunfanaghy now has a well established Festival programme which runs throughout the year and includes a Seafood Festival, a Jazz and Blues Festival and a Halloween Madness Festival.
Lis na Mara is centrally located along the North Donegal coastline. Mountain climbing and hill walking are popular in this spectacular landscape with Muckish, Errigal and the Derryveagh mountains all easily reachable. There are also a number of beautiful coastal and forest walks in the region - including numerous walking trails in the nearby Ards Forest Park. Lying just north of Dunfanaghy is the dramatic Horn Head Peninsula which features a stunning scenic drive and numerous scenic walks. The entire peninsula has been designated as an Irish Natural Heritage Area and a Refuge for Fauna (specifically sea birds)
The modern fitted kitchen has an attractive range of contemporary units with stylish worktops, and provides all the high quality appliances you would expect – dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and an electric oven and gas hob. A separate utility room houses a washing machine and tumble dryer. At meal times there are a number of different dining venues available - the island unit in the kitchen, the more formal dining table in the sun room or - weather permitting - the picnic bench outside.
The bright living area features large windows which offer superb views over Marble Hill towards Sheephaven Bay and the Rosguill Peninsula. From the comfort of the luxury furniture suite you can just sit back and watch this beautiful landscape. An open fireplace creates a warm ambience. Above the fireplace is a 37 inch plasma television.
