The holiday home is a large and spacious, luxury, newly built dwelling, with five bedrooms to sleep up to eleven. It has two en-suites, a shower room and a main bathroom. Solid wood flooring upstairs, and polished light marble cover the downstairs floors. There is a lounge with a traditional open fireplace and a flat screen plasma TV with Sky reception, a large kitchen, a sun room and a utility room. Outside, a patio area to the rear, and a gravelled parking area in front. The holiday home can easily accommodate a large family or a group. Situated in the Carrick area just a bit north of Derrybeg and about 1km south of "Teach Jack", off the R257; - the main coastal road between Gweedore and Gortahork. There are many small islands just off shore, notably; Gola, Inishmeane, Inishsirrer and Inishfree lower. The area is known as "The Rosses", and also lies within the Donegal "Gaeltacht", a predominantly Irish speaking area. In the long evenings locals and visitors gather in the village's pubs to listen to live traditional music - indeed this area is the heartland of such renowned groups as Altan and Clannad.
The landscape is rugged with an indented coastline of spectacular sandy
beaches, bays, coves, inlets and offshore islands, and about 130 fresh
water lakes, making the area something of an anglers paradise.
Anglers
can also enjoy off-shore sea fishing, by renting or hiring a boat.
Apart from fishing, other activities
may include: Places of interest and sight seeing: The whole county is abundant with natural scenic beauty, but we will mention just three here, all within a twenty minute drive, and not far from each other: Mt Errigal; On a clear day, it is visible in the east, being Donegal's highest peak, cone shaped like a mini Mt Fuji, it presents a challenging climb, rewarded with spectacular views at the summit. Dunlewy Lakeside Centre; much to see and do; with a restaurant, tea room, craft shop, horse riding, adventure play area, guided tours, weaving demonstrations etc. Glenveigh National Park; - consists of over 16,000 acres of Mountains, Lakes, Glens and Woods, and is famous for its fine herd of Red Deer. The Central feature is the 19th Century Castle surrounded by the famous Glenveigh Gardens. |
