The holiday home is named after the building in which it
is situated. Montgomery Terrace is a terraced row of
Victorian seaside
homes in Moville that were built in 1884.

The holiday home is the one with the second door from the left.
(top photo)
The Montgomery's were a prominent family in the town; - the famous one
was the field-marshal who outwitted and defeated Rommel at El-Alamein in
the second world war.
The unit is fairly narrow horizontally, but this is made up for by the
fact that there are three floors, and the rooms all have
high ceilings.
On opening the front door, there is a small vestibule separating it from
an inner door, which opens to the ground floor hallway and reception
area to the right. Here you will find a dining area with six chairs, a
couch and a 'chaise-longue'. The kitchen is situated at the rear, and
there is a small backyard with a shed that serves as a utility area.
Up the stairs, the main bathroom is halfway between the ground floor and
first floor. The first floor has a forward facing lounge, with an
open
fireplace and sea views; and there is a rear facing bedroom. The second
floor has a forward facing bedroom with sea views, a rear facing
bedroom, and there is a shower room. Bed linen, towels, electricity and
oil fired central heating are all included, and pets are welcome.
This holiday home is
ideally placed right in Moville, with all the local
amenities within walking distance. Hotels, pubs and bars, restaurants
and take-aways, banks, shops, churches etc. are all 'just around the
corner'.
The shore front
is just 'in front' and there are great views over Lough
Foyle. Moville Harbour lies a just little to the right, or rather south,
and there are picturesque views of fishing boats, yachts and other small
craft. On the north side, one can take a stroll along a paved pathway
that follows the shore, past rocky coves and beaches. If you are feeling
energetic you can walk as far as the next town, which is Greencastle. A
4.4km round trip and a great way of keeping fit
Eating out:
The Point Take Away is situated right in the centre of Moville Main
Street close to the shore front.
The Willow Tree is a Chinese offering a takeaway menu and delivery
service.
The Cosy Cottage situated at the bottom of Bath Terrace Lane and the
edge of The Square offers sandwiches and Irish fries!
The Town Clock is located in the centre of The Square and offers
lunchtime and evening menus
The Foyle Hotel was voted Dining Pub of the Year 2003. Need we say more!
- There are thirteen pubs in Moville!
What to see:
A monastic site at Cooley. The castle at Greencastle. The Greencastle
Maritime Museum & Planetarium. Take a sightseeing trip around the
peninsula on the route known as the 'Inishowen 100'. There are seasonal
festivals usually held in late July early August. If you're around then,
don't miss The Moville Summer Festival.
Golf: at Greencastle, Redcastle, Ballyliffin, Derry City, and Buncrana. |
