Nana’s Cottage is a lovely 2 bedroom cottage with a wonderful location close to the shores of Lough Eske. The cottage is within easy walking distance of the two top class hotels in this area – Harveys’s Point Hotel and the Solis Lough Eske Castle Hotel. Set against the backdrop of the Bluestack Mountains and located just 6km from historic Donegal Town, Nana’s Cottage is an ideal base to explore the beautiful south west region of Co. Donegal.
The cottage is newly renovated and is finished to a high standard. It overlooks Lough Eske and features an open plan area with kitchen, living space and dining area. There are two double bedrooms and a shower room with power shower. Mature trees provide privacy and shelter to the cottage. Pets are welcome but unfortunately they cannot enter the house. However there is a kennel available to house the pet if you want to bring him / her along on your trip.
A location between Harvey’s Point and Lough Eske Castle makes Nana’s Cottage an ideal accommodation base for people attending wedding receptions in these renowned establishments. Both hotels have good reputations for bar food, entertainment and fine dining. The hotels have music at weekends and host art exhibitions from time to time. Every Wednesday during the holiday season you can enjoy a great night of fine food and fabulous entertainment at the Harveys Point Dinner Cabaret
Translated from Irish Lough Eske means "Lake of the Fish". Unsurprisingly then, the lake and its tributaries are popular for fishing, especially for spring salmon, sea trout and alpine char, with the season running from 1 March to 31 September. Indeed Lough Eske is only one of four fishing lakes in Ireland which boasts Alpine Char. Facilities for fishing on the lake can be arranged for an extra charge.
Lough Eske is surrounded to the north, east and west by the Bluestack Mountains, which occupy most of central and south west Donegal. The Bluestack Way passes the road in front of the holiday home. This is a Waymarked Way designed to traverse the Bluestacks using existing roadways, paths and tracks to lead the walkers through the mountains in a safe and sustainable manner.
Lough Eske lies 6km to the northeast of Donegal Town, to which it is connected by the River Eske. Donegal Town is a designated historic Town and has numerous tourist attractions. Donegal Castle stands beside The Diamond, overlooking the River Eske. Located on the Diamond is the renowned Magee of Donegal. On the outskirts of the town is the quaint Donegal Craft Village. The workshops in this village are leased to professional artists and crafts people. All the unique products you will see in the village are handmade by these talented artists. Guided historical tours of Donegal Town take place on a daily basis during the summer and the Waterbus takes you around Donegal Bay. The ruins of Donegal Abbey, situated on the bay, are open to the public. Donegal Town also has several first class hotels and restaurants. There is entertainment each night in the local pubs with music to suit all tastes.
There are a number of top tourist attractions within an hours drive of Nana’s Cottage including the Cliffs of Slieve League, Glenveagh National Park, the Ulster American Folk Park near Omagh, the Fermanagh Lakelands and ‘Yeats Country’ in Sligo
The holiday cottage has a bright open plan area with kitchen, living space and dining area. The living area enjoys views towards Lough Eske. It is tastefully furnished and decorated
The kitchen area has a tiled floor and fitted units. There is an electric cooker and hobs and a fridge with ice box. The use of a washing machine and tumble dryer is available if required.

Can I also take this opportunity to say how helpful and user friendly your website is - it is certainly a plus for Donegal. I became aware of it through a friend who has booked a house in Ballyliffin for a number of us attending a wedding in the area in the summer.
