No 1 Cooey na Gaal - Portsalon

No 1 Cooey na Gaal is a modern 4 bedroom holiday home located in the popular holiday resort of Portsalon in North Donegal. This well appointed self catering accommodation is situated in a small cul de sac development which overlooks the harbour area of Portsalon village. From the front door it 150 metres to the quaint harbour and sheltered beach and just 200 metres to the superb 18 hole Portsalon Golf Links.

Blue Flag Beach

Portsalon Beach - also know as Ballymastoker Strand - is a superb 4km blue flag beach that stretches from the harbour below the holiday home all the way to the foot of Knockalla Mountain. It is a popular beach for swimmers, walkers, kite fliers and boating. With its golden sand and large sand dunes it is an idyllic playground for kids of all ages. At the harbour there is Watersports Centre where wet suits, pedal boats etc can be hired. A hose is provided at the rear of the holiday home to wash down any watersports equipment or clothing.

Portsalon Golf Club

Stretching along the length of Ballymastoker Strand is the magnificent Portsalon Golf Links – a superb natural links course which enjoys sweeping views of Ballymastoker Bay, Knockalla Mountain, Lough Swilly and the Inishowen Hills. Portsalon Golf Club was established in 1891 and was one of the founder members of the Golfing Union of Ireland. After a  major redesign by Pat Ruddy the course is now ranked No 35 in the top 100 golf courses in Ireland. Portsalon offers golfers an opportunity to play golf on an unspoiled, uncrowded, natural links course. The modern Club House provides good quality food throughout the holiday season.

The Fanad Peninsula

With its central location on the beautiful Fanad Peninsula the holiday home is surrounded by numerous natural amenities. In addition to the superb Ballymastoker Strand there are a number of other fine beaches in the locality, including Ballyhiernan Strand on the northern tip of the Peninsula. This beach is home to the Adventure One Surfing School. Adventure One is the leading ISA (Irish Surfing Association) approved school on the north coast of Donegal and operates right throughout the holiday season.

Sea Fishing is also popular activity on the Fanad Peninsula. A charter boat operates from Portsalon Pier itself and there are two charter boats based at Rathmullan. Trout angling is available at nearby Kindrum Lough and also at the Meadows Trout Fishery in Rossnakill (6km).

The narrow winding coastal roads around Portsalon play their part in ensuring a slower pace of life. These roads are ideal for walking and cycling. Just 12km from the holiday home is the Mulroy Bridge which links the Fanad and Rosguill Peninsulas. With this bridge attractions such as the Atlantic Drive, Rosapenna Golf Club, Meevagh Dive Centre and the Magherabeg Leisure Centre are just 18km from the holiday home

No 1 Cooey na Gaal is the ideal base for a beach and golf holiday. With a Blue Flag beach, top rated golf course and watersports centre on your doorstep you could easily park your car up and leave it untouched for the length of you stay!

The holiday home has a spacious and bright open-plan ground floor. The living area is to the front of the house and enjoys sea and mountain views. The area is comfortable furnished and has a tv and dvd player.

  Kitchen and Dining Area

The well designed kitchen togeter with the adjacent utility has all the modern appliances to facilitate an enjoyable self catering experience. Appliances available include electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer.

The bright dining area has a stylish table and 6 chairs. 4 stools provide additional seating. Glass patio doors lead out to a decking area with picnic bench and a small back lawn.

Booking deposit (non-refundable) of euro100 per week - with balance to be paid six weeks prior to the letting period.
