Rathmullan is now one of the most popular destinations in Donegal  for family holidays. In addition to a safe sandy beach the village has several fine restaurants and a choice of lively pubs. Pony trekking can be enjoyed at the Golden Sands Equestrian Centre. There are also two modern charter boats based at the local marina - these are used for both sea angling and sightseeing on Lough Swilly (The Lake of Shadows)

For the golf enthusiast No.3 Breffni Cottages is an ideal base to play the great links of North Donegal. Otway Golf Club is a 5 min drive while Portsalon Golf Club is 20 minutes along the spectacular Knockalla coast road. The two championship courses at Rosapenna are only half an hour away. During the summer months (June - September) the Rathmullan to Buncrana ferry brings the two superb courses at Ballyliffin within a 50 minutes journey from the cottage.
