No 5 Breffni Cottages  is a superb  holiday cottage located  in the popular family seaside resort of Rathmullan  in North West Donegal. The holiday home is finished to a very high standard with a strong emphasis on space and natural light in each area of the house. The cottage is only 50 meters from the shore front enabling it to enjoy superb views of Lough Swilly and Inch Island

The cottage can accommodate 8 people in both style and comfort. There are two ensuite bedrooms on the ground floor – a twin and a double. On the first floor there are two very spacious double bedrooms. One of these has a small balcony that offers a superb panoramic view of Lough Swilly  - The Lake of Shadows -  a view that includes Portnamurry – the small bay from which the Irish Earls departed in 1607 . This  “Flight of the Earls” is regarded as a pivotal event in Irish – and indeed European -  history.

The holiday home itself is designed to take full advantage of its wonderful location  - every room to the front of the house enjoys sea views.  The cottage is also situated in a quiet cul de sac with a large green area to the front - making it a safe play area for children.

 The renowned Waters Edge Restaurant and Bar is only 200 meters from the holiday home. Here you can enjoy excellent bar food or top class dining in a superb setting. A short walk brings you into the centre of Rathmullan village. Rathmullan is now one of the most popular destinations in Donegal for family holidays. In addition to a safe sandy beach the village has numerous fine restaurants and a selection of lively pubs. Horse riding can be enjoyed at the Golden Sands Equestrian Centre. There are also two modern charter boats based at the local marina - these are used for both sea angling and sightseeing on Lough Swilly

 The central location of Rathmullan in North Donegal makes it an ideal base to tour this beautiful part of Ireland. During the summer months the Rathmullan to Buncrana car ferry brings the majestic Inishowen Peninsula with easy reach of the holiday home.

The spectacular landscapes of the Fanad and Rosguil Peninsulas, the unspoilt Donegal Highlands, the magnificent Glenveagh National Park and the ancient and historic walled City of Derry are all with an hours drive of the cottage.

A 20 minute drive along the spectacular Knockalla Coast Road will bring you to Portsalon Golf Course which is now one of the finest links courses in Donegal. Portsalon is also the location of one of the best blue flag beaches in Ireland. A 30 minute drive towards Downings will bring you to Rosapenna which has two superb championship golf courses. This is also the starting point of the famous Atlantic Drive.
