No 8 Fairview Cottages - Downings

A wonderful 3 bedroom holiday home located near the Rosapenna Hotel on the outskirts of the holiday village of Downings in North Donegal. The holiday home is situated on an elevated site and enjoys truly breathtaking views over the renowned  Rosapenna Golf Links as it skirts along the sand dunes that border the fabulous Tramore beach.

Golf and Fabulous Beach on your doorstep

While staying at No 8 Fairview Cottages the visitor has two superb golf links and a beautiful unspoilt beach literally on their doorstep. Rosapenna Golf Club offers the chance for links golfers to compare and contrast the traditional, old-style links, created by Old Tom Morris and modified by Braid and Vardon, with the modern Sandy Hills links designed by Pat Ruddy.

The holiday home is located on a great vantage point on the Old Tom Morris course. Most of the holes on this links run between the sea and the dramatic sand dunes in what is known locally as \"The Valley\".  The open plan ground floor, the conservatory and patio area and the two first floor bedrooms of the holiday home all enjoy superb  uninterrupted views over this course towards beautiful Sheephaven Bay. A short walk along a path that skirts the edge of the golf course brings the visitor down to the wonderful Tramore beach.

Downings and the Rosguill Peninsula

The holiday home is less than a 10 minute walk from the centre of Downings village. Downings is a very popular tourist resort and fishing port with lively pubs and night-life. It is situated on the beautiful Rosguil Peninsula. A trip along the famous Atlantic Drive offers spectacular views of the majestic cliffs, seascapes and glorious headlands along this peninsula

In addition to Tramore the Rosguill Peninsula is blessed with numerous sandy beaches including those at Downings, Melmore and Tra na Rossan. The natural landscape of the peninsula also provides the basis for many of the activities that the visitor can enjoy including windsurfing, deep sea diving, sea angling and boat charters. There is also horse riding and hill walking

The new bridge spanning Mulroy Bay near Carrigart has brought the beautiful Fanad Peninsula - and the superb Portsalon Golf Links - within easy reach of the holiday home.

• Golf at Rosapenna Golf Club - literally on your doorstep. Other superb courses in the general locality include Dunfanaghy and Portsalon
• Enjoy beautiful unspoilt beaches on your doorstep –  Tramore Strand, Tra na Rossan, Downings, Melmore
• Enjoy diving in the clear waters of Mulroy Bay and Sheephaven Bay
• Try the Magherabeg Leisure Centre in Downings  -  facilities include a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and gym
• Take a trip around the spectacular Atlantic Drive and Lough Salt Drive
• Visit Glenveagh National Park, with 16,000 hectares of mountains, lakes, wood and bogs.
• Find numerous peaceful roads, country lanes and mountain tracks to walk.
• Climb Muckish and Errigal. Mount Errigal, the highest mountain in Donegal is a demanding climb and once on the summit you can see for miles around.

The  modern kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would expect to find in a luxury holiday home. There is also a washer / dryer machine for your convenience.
From dining area you can enjoy the superb panoramic view that includes the Rosapenna Golf Links, Tramore Beach and Sheephaven Bay. This wonderful view can also be enjoyed from the  adjacent conservatory. The conservatory in turn leads out to the patio area - an ideal barbecue location.

  Living Area

The holiday home features an open plan ground floor that enjoys panoramic views over the Old Tom Morris course at Rosapenna. From the bright and cheerfully decorated living area you can watch the golfers go by - or watch the activity on Tramore Beach. The area features a solid fuel stove, comfortable furniture suite and hardwood floor.
