O'Hara's Cottage - Fanad

Set in the  scenically beautiful Fanad Peninsula, this charming, detached 100 year old cottage is ideal for a "get away from it all" break. Just 400meters from the sea. Visitors can view the Atlantic Ocean lapping on  Ballyhieran's mile long golden beach. Fanad is renowned for its fishing. For an angling experience in the "home of the browns" there are many well stocked lakes to choose from. Activities locally include golf, surfing , surf school, leisure centre, dive centre, horse riding, fishing and walking.

This property is surrounded by beaches both sandy and pebbled - all within 10 mins walk. The newly opened Mulroy Bay Bridge will bring you to the Rosguill Peninsula within a 10 mins drive. On this neighbouring peninsula you are in close proximity to Glenveigh National Park, a must to explore - recently gaining a lot of media coverage for its eagle breeding programme. Rosapenna Golf Course, Downings Beach, Carrigart are also on the Rosguill peninsula. Brochures and maps are provided within the house for your convenience. Fanad Lighthouse is a 5 min drive to the east.

The beautiful Ballyhiernan Bay is only 400m from the holiday home. A beautiful unspoilt sandy beach skirts this bay. This beach is the location of the Adventure One Surf School  - the leading ISA (Irish Surfing Association) approved school on the north coast of Donegal.

A 10 minute drive from the cottage will bring you to the holiday village of Portsalon where you will find a wonderful blue flag beach and a top class golf course. At the village harbour there is a water sports centre where kayaks, pedal boats, wetsuits and boogie boards can be hired.
