
The Old Post Office is located along the route to Downings Harbour and has panoramic views over Sheephaven Bay and the golden crescent of sand stretching to Rosapenna Golf Club. This is an extra spacious property suitable for larger groups or extended families. All the amenities of this popular north Donegal resort are within easy walking distance and the golf course is just a 3 min drive away. The beach is directly below the house, a 2 minute walk away. The harbour and pub are also two minutes walk away.
The village of Downings itself is a very popular tourist resort and fishing port with lively pubs and night-life. It is situated on the beautiful Rosguil Peninsula. This peninsula divides Mulroy Bay and Sheephaven Bay and contains truly spectacular scenery. The famous Atlantic Drive is a short but very dramatic road around the Peninsula. The drive is about 12km long so you can best appreciate it if you cycle or walk. The walk can be comfortably completed in half a day.
The natural landscape of the Rosguil Peninsula also provides the basis for many of the activities that the visitor can enjoy. In addition to an abundance of golden sandy beaches there are many water based activities in the Downings area - including windsurfing, deep sea diving, sea angling and boat charters. There is also horse riding and hill walking

Within 2 km of the holiday home there are two superb championship golf links at Rosapenna - the Old Tom Morris Course and the Sandy Hills Course. Within half an hours drive of the cottage there are two more first-rate links courses – Portsalon and Dunfanaghy.
Within a thirty minute drive of the holiday home there are numerous things to do and places to visit. You have the majestic Glenveagh National Park and the beautiful Ards Forest Park.The lakeside centre in Dunlewy has something for all the family. In Dunfanaghy there is a workhouse famine museum. Churchill has the famous Glebe House & Gallery as well as the Colmcille Heritage Centre. Letterkenny has all the amenities you would expect to find in a large town - cinemas, museum, theatre, leisure centres, art galleries and excellent shopping. Tory Island and the ancient walled city of Derry are highly recommended day trips.

The large dining room has lovely views over Downings beach towards Rosapenna Golf Club.

We spent St Patricks at this big warm family home. The space is amazing and we had rooms for all the family. Downings is a great place to relax and the walk to the Harbour bar is very achievable....even with a few Guinness! The house was clean tidy and well equipped. Would certainly stay again.
