Oldtown Cottage is a lovely 3 bedroom holiday home located on the northern coast of the beautiful Fanad Peninsula in Co Donegal. Located beside the ancient wallsteads of the “old town” of Ballyhoorisky the cottage looks out over the rugged coastline towards the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean.
Within walking distance of Oldtown cottage there are numerous secluded beaches, rocky inlets and coves - ideal paygrounds for children of all ages. And just 1 km from the holiday home is the fabulous Ballyhiernan Strand. Ballyhiernan Strand is home to the Adventure One Surfing School. Adventure One is the leading ISA (Irish Surfing Association) approved school on the north coast of Donegal and operates right throughout the holiday season. Ballyhiernan beach is also ideal for swimming, walking windsurfing and kite flying.
Sea Fishing is also popular in this part of the Fanad Peninsula. The holiday home is close to Ballyhoorisky Pier and to the remnants of an old pier. Fishing off the rocks close to the dramatic Fanad Lighthouse is well worthwhile. Trout angling is available at nearby Kindrum Lough and also at the Meadows Trout Fishery in Rossnakill (11km).
The narrow winding coastal roads around Oldtown Cottage pay their part in ensuring a slower pace of life. These roads are ideal for walking and cycling. Just 7km from the holiday home is the Mulroy Bridge which links the Fanad and Rosguill Peninsulas. With this bridge attractions such as the Atlantic Drive, Rosapenna Golf Club, Meevagh Dive Centre and the Magherabeg Leisure Centre are just 15km from the holiday home
For the keen golfer Oldtown Cottage is ideally located between two of the finest links courses in the North West of Ireland. The two superb links courses at Rosapenna Golf Club are 15km away via the Mulroy Bridge and the wonderful Portsalon Golf Club is a 12 km drive along the shores of Lough Swilly. Blue Flag beaches are located beside both golf clubs
The northern tip of the Fanad Peninsula is an area of remarkable scenic beauty with narrow winding roads, small lakes, sandy beaches and areas untouched by modern society. Oldtown Cottage is an ideal base to explore this beautiful part of Donegal

I travel a lot so I'm always looking for interesting places to stay - anything to avoid another carbon copy hotel - and this has got to be one of the best local travel sites I've seen. Plenty of detail, tons of photos, excellent location info and clear pricing - everything I need to make an informed call. Great job and I'll be recommending the site to anyone else I know who's travelling in Donegal.
