Owenea Lodge is situated 1km from the picturesque town of Glenties (3 time winner of all Ireland Tidy Town Competition) and 5km from Ardara, famous for its Hand-woven tweed and hand knit sweaters. Its quiet, private location is perfectly situated for visitors to see the very best of Donegal.

The Lodge is traditionally built and nestled in the heart of the Blue Stack mountains, along the banks of the Owenea River. This modern, spacious and fully equipped accommodation is an excellent base for golfing, horse riding, hill walking, fishing and many more hobbies and activities.

Owenea Lodge holiday home is bright and welcoming with a private south facing garden - plenty open space for the kids to play. Built in recent years, this five-bed holiday property combines all the best elements of country living with modern comforts, while also taking great advantage of the surrounding scenic landscape and proximity to one of Donegals most vibrant rural villages.

Glenties has retained much of its 19th Century character, including a late Georgian Courthouse which forms an important part of the local St. Connell's Museum and Heritage Centre. Visitors to the Centre can step back in time to experience the atmosphere, customs and traditions of bygone days in a rural Donegal community. Browse at leisure or avail of the service of the informative local guides.

Glenties was the model for Brian Friel's fictional village of Ballybeg, where several of his works were set. His play, Dancing at Lughnasa that was set in Ballybeg, was made into a film in 1994 starring Meryl Streep.

This part of Donegal has always been noted for its strong tradition of Irish music and Glenties has a flourishing traditional music school which is constantly turning out a new generation of musicians. To experience this tradition at its best, visit the town on the first weekend of October when the "Fiddlers Weekend" attracts fiddlers from many parts of Ireland and around the world.

Surrounded by Mountains and Glens walking is an ideal way to explore this beautiful area with many breathtaking walks close by. Take a short drive and you can experience the rugged coast of West Donegal with its secluded white sandy beaches. Travel north to Fintown and take a trip along the shores of Loch Finn on Fintown Railway, a narrow gauge railway set in one of the most scenic valleys in Donegal.

For the golfer, Nairn & Portno Golf Club is a short drive away and for fishing, the rivers Owenea (flows right beside holiday home) and Owentocker, which meet at Glenties, are renowned for the quality of sport they offer.
