
Portnamurry Lodge is a beautiful eco friendly holiday home located in the village of Rathmullan in County Donegal. Located just above the historic Portnamurry Bay the cottage enjoys wonderful views of Lough Swilly, Inch Island and the Inishowen Hills.
The cottage has been designed to make maximum use of natural sunlight - for both energy and light. Solar panels have been installed. Other eco friendly facilities include:

The holiday home is finished to a high standard with a strong emphasis on space and natural light in each area of the house. There is a superb ensuite master bedroom on the first floor which enjoys wonderful panoramic view of Lough Swilly - "The Lake of Shadows". Another spacious double bedroom is located on the ground floor. A large wet room/toilet is adjacent to this bedroom - making the ground floor wheel chair accessible. The accommodation is completed by a twin bedroom on the first floor.
The Waters Edge Restaurant and Bar is only 250 metres from the holiday home. Here you can enjoy excellent bar food or fine dining in a superb setting. A short 10 minute walk brings you into the centre of Rathmullan village. This charming village is surrounded by dramatic coastal and mountain scenery. It is now one of the most popular destinations in Donegal for family holidays. In addition to the wonderful sandy beach the village has a selection of lively pubs and fine restaurants - including the award winning Bunnan Bui Restaurant. Horse riding can be enjoyed at the Golden Sands Equestrian Centre. There are also two modern charter boats based at the local marina - these are used for both sea angling and sightseeing on Lough Swilly. An excellent childrens' playground is now located at the harbour area of the village.
The central location of Rathmullan in North Donegal makes it an ideal base to tour this beautiful part of Ireland. This area is open plan with a fully integrated kitchen including electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer and ceramic hob. These appliances are among the most energy efficient on the market at this time. The floor is tiled but warm and the large window and glass door provide ample natural light
This living area enjoys superb views over Lough Swilly towards Inch Island and the Inishowen Hills. It features a wood burning stove, digital widescreen television, dvd, tiled flooring with underfloor heating (which is present throughout the ground floor). Large windows not only give lots of natural light to the entire area but also make the most of the wonderful view. You have ample comfortable seating to enjoy the sunset in front of the cosy wood burning stove.
The holiday home has 3 wonderful bedrooms. The master bedroom on the first floor enjoys truly spectacular sea views. This very spacious bedroom has excellent ensuite facilities and a hard wood floor. Also located on the first floor is a bedroom with 2 single beds – this room is adjacent to a bathroom. On the ground floor there is another very spacious double bedroom which is located beside a wet room.
From the elegant dining area you can enjoy the superb panoramic view that includes Rathmullan Village, Lough Swilly, Inch Island and the Inishowen Hills. The patio area immediately outside is the perfect barbeque location – sheltered by the mature woodland to the side of the house
