Portsalon House was previously a large luxury bed and breakfast with a superb location adjacent to Portsalons fabulous golf course and wonderful blue flag beach. It has recently been converted into two comfortable and spacious holiday homes.
Each house can accommodate up to 10 people in both comfort and style. They share a large landscaped back garden that is bordered by a tree lined stream. This is an excellent location for barbeques and a safe playground for children.
The homes are literally on the doorstep of Portsalon Golf Club. This superb links course has been extensively redesigned in the last few years and is now one of the finest golf courses in Donegal. A 200 metre walk will also bring you onto Portsalons renowned blue flag beach.
The heart of Portsalon village is the pier area - a 500 metre walk from the holiday homes. Here you will find two establishments that will make your holiday stay an enjoyable one - Sarah's Restaurant and The Stores Bar. Both these are family friendly and kayaks and pedal boats can be hired from The Stores. Fishing from the pier is also a popular activity.
Centrally located on the Fanad Peninsula, the holiday homes provide the perfect base from which to discover and explore the breathtaking scenery of this beautiful part of Ireland with its numerous bays, glorious beaches, rugged mountains, rolling hills and numerous small lakes
Less than 2 km from the holiday homes are the superb Ballydaheen Gardens. These English and Japanese style gardens slope all the way down to the shores of Lough Swilly. The gardens meet the shore at the famous 7 Arches - these are a series of seven interconnecting sea caves have been excavated by the action of waves on ancient limestone rock.
A further 5 km along the scenic coast road is the tip of the Fanad Peninsula -Fanad Head. Here Lough Swilly meets the wild Atlantic - watched over by the impressive Fanad Lighthouse.
Moving south from Portsalon a 25 minute drive along the spectacular Knockalla Coast Road brings you to the holiday resort of Rathmullan. Here you will find a number of fine restaurants and lively pubs. At the pier a summertime car ferry links Rathmullan and Buncrana - which brings the majestic Inishowen Peninsula within easier reach of the holiday homes.
Portsalon House Holiday Homes are a half hours drive from Letterkenny which is the main town in County Donegal. Letterkenny has everything you would expect to find in a modern and thriving town including a 5 screen cinema, public swimming pool, urban park, a theatre, several indoor activity playgrounds for children and a wide variety of shops. The town will be the venue for the 2006 All Ireland Fleadh Ceoil
