Brilliant place - amazing views - right by its own small beach for local residents - brilliant facilities in the house including loads of books, cooking equipment, spa bath, comfy big bedrooms, big garden with great facilities and a projector and loads of dvds! We had the best time and Gerry was so helpful to deal with! We definitely want to come back for much longer than three days next year!

Photos don’t do the house or location justice, it’s a truly beautiful place and so tranquil and relaxing. Taxi service to bars and restaurants is really efficient and inexpensive. The only problem you will have is leaving, we’ll definitely be back

We spent a really lovely week here in February 2019. The situation is perfect, just on the outskirts of Buncrana, right beside the beach The views from the large picture windows of the Atlantic Ocean were amazing. Loved waking up, opening the bedroom curtains and watching the ocean. The house is spotless, spacious, well provisioned and very comfortable. We are a family of five and had lots of space. We especially enjoyed the coastal walk right beside the house. Gerry and Karen are great hosts, they stayed in touch just to make sure we were ok. Would recommend very strongly and hope to return soon.

Perfect hosts, amazing views, lovely gardens, and the sound of the sea. The town is full of small shops, a well stocked grocery, pubs and restaurants and the environs are full of hikes, sights and history. But mostly Karen & Gerry have built a piece of paradise for a perfect vacation spot with the most amazing views of the bay, the sky, the sunsets. You will love it here!

Gorgeous stay - better than the pictures. It’s such a lovely space to relax in especially while it was too windy to head outside, we watched films on the projector and where still able to enjoy the views. Very clean and cosy! We’d like to come back at some point and will definitely be recommending.

Our stay couldn't have been better. Went for a weekend off with my partner and two friends for his birthday. Place is amazing, very comfortable and sparkling clean. Absolutely beautiful views and location, second to none. Gorgeous house with home comforts and thoughtful touches. Beds very comfortable and plenty of hot water for showers. Few mins walk to the beautiful quiet beach. Buncrana is a delightful spot and well worth a visit. Would love to come back to this beautiful home soon for another visit

What a spot! Beautiful view. Welcoming hosts. Great for children with entertainment inside house (toys, blackboard etc), outside house (balls, den) and beach a very short stroll away. Great facilities / showers. Very effective solar / wood burner heating. Loved the rocket from the garden (going to plant some now myself). House designed to maximise views. Thank you Gerry and Karen for a lovely stay.

Karen and Gerry have the most perfect house overlooking the beach, which is a just short stroll down the lane. The house is warm, clean and very comfortable and the views are to die for. You can sit outside, or inside with the sliding doors open, and listen to the waves on the beach all day. They left us lovely welcome notes, a little welcome present for our toddler, and insisted we raided their garden for strawberries and salad. It really felt like they love where they live (which they must do) and wanted us to to share in that for the weekend. They made us feel so welcome. Whatever the word is in English, the Danish hygge definitely sums this place up. Even the toys they left out for our daughter to play with were unique and special. We really didn't want to leave and could only talk about coming back again someday as we left. A thoughtfully designed and uniquely located gem.

This place is so special and myself anf my husband cant get over it. Incredible views around, really good energy and style inside the house, everything was just perfect and made us feel like we are on holidays somewhere abroad. Very clean, good communication, nice interior. Loved surroundings. No TV which is great when you are away! Loads of games and books. You can just fall asleep listening to the sea and birds. We fell in love with the place! And Buncrana overall is really oustanding town! Recommend 100% i doubt someone can be dissapointed. Everything about this place is magical.

This little diamond of a find was everything myself and my boyfriend wanted for a weekend away in Ireland. We travel a lot and love experiencing and exploring new places and spaces and yet all we wanted was to go somewhere to relax, chill, read and simply be - as far from the world as possible.
Everything about staying at Hygge House is stunning With everything one might need for either adventuring through the Wild Atlantic Way of literally not leaving the house (as were pretty much did), the amenities and facilities are top notch. Karen and Gerry are amazing hosts.
Truly amazing. Taking everything into account from sharing their vegetable garden with you to a fabulous welcome note and a well-thought out welcome pack that tells you all you need to know about the house and surround area. They are available to help in any way and really, with truly heartfelt kindness, make you feel at home.
We shopped at the local supermarket and got in food for the weekend. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were spent on the upstairs balcony taking in the most incredible views we have seen in Ireland and watching the sunset was magical as we brought out blankets, candles and a delightful G&T.
This house is about the little things in life, the important moments we tend to miss in the hustle and bustle and daily runnings of our lives - it is about sleeping with the balcony doors open so as to hear the crashing waves and the sound of the dawn chorus, taking in the view, enjoying sunrise and sunset, relaxing by the fire, being truly with those you love, walks on the beach and notably.. with noooooo wifi to distract you from the world you have gladly left for just a few days, it is the kind of relaxation we find so difficult to find in life today. It is simply put, magical.

Our intention was to disconnect be close to the beach.. Take in the waves and birds and enjoy. The location is quiet and with nice privacy from the upper deck/terrace and only a 5 minute drive to Buncrana. The kids were initially in shock with no high speed internet and cable TV but this turned into better family time on the wonderful walking path at the end of the road. Gerry and Karen are nice caring hosts that will communicate and provide complete comfort that your stay will be trouble free.
