Red Row Cottage Culdaff: A charming 2 bedroom traditional cottage, built in the early 19th century, and now approaching 200 years old. It was possibly one of a few similar cottages built by a wealthy, local landowner for his tenants. Red Row is only a 2 minutes walk from Culdaff village green and McGrory's and is situated just off the road from Culdaff to Moville.

Red Row Cottage is a small traditional style cottage built in the early part of the 19th century and is probably over 200 years old. It was possibly one of a few similar cottages built by a wealthy landowner for his tenants.
The cottage is compact and solidly built, with thick stone outside walls.

Its present layout presents a cheerful exterior with yellow walls, accented with red on the door, window sills and shutters, bench and flower containers. A narrow entrance has a bathroom at its end and the living room and bedrooms to the right. The living room area has a lovely traditional open fireplace as its central focus, flanked by a kitchen area to the left, a double sleeper couch to the right and access to the two bedrooms.

There is also a separate room attached to the end of the cottage, which may be used for a variety of purposes, but can only be accessed from the outside. (see picture in collage) There is sufficient secure parking on the property for up to three cars.

The cottage is situated less than a 2 minute walk from the village green in Culdaff, and is only a one minute walk away from McGrory's. It lies just off the R238 road between Culdaff and Moville.

Culdaff is situated on the northern coast of the Inishowen Peninsula, not too far from Malin Head; Ireland's most northerly point. Originally, Culdaff was an early Christian monastic settlement, that is known to have existed as early as the 8th century. Today, the present church has its foundations over the site of the original monastic church.

For a long time, Culdaff was little more than a small quiet fishing village, but since the mid 1990's, rapid growth in new housing has seen the village expand to a much larger version of what it was.

A lovely sandy Blue-Flag Beach is to be found to the north of the town; - with great surfing if the wind is right. There is a very good play-park for young children near the beach car park.

A visit to Culdaff is not complete until you have visited the well known (or should we say famous) McGrory's Pub, Restaurant and Music venue.
A family run business that was first started in 1924, McGrory's has two unique bars. The Front Bar, noted for its fine food, drink, traditional Irish music and a warm welcome; and The Backroom Bar, famous throughout Ireland and beyond for its quality of music and entertainment, often featuring in major tour itineraries where Culdaff is listed alongside major cities including London, Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin, Belfast, & Galway. Not bad for a village of just over 300 people!

There is much to see and do, with many of the attractions in Inishowen and the surrounding areas within an hours driving time.
One of these attractions include: The "Isle of Doagh Famine Village" near Ballyliffin; - a popular outdoor museum, focusing on Ireland in the 1840's during the great famine, and telling the story of the conditions and circumstances that brought about this disastrous event by using outdoor displays. There are also music and dance events, performed by local artists in July & August. In December the venue becomes "Santa's Lapland", is extremely popular, so early booking is essential.

Ballyliffin itself, is a town which, although set in a scenically beautiful area, has the Ballyliffin Golf Club with its two links as the main attraction. Golf enthusiasts may also wish to play other courses at nearby Greencastle, Buncrana, Redcastle and in Derry.
